The Opportunity

An opportunity to join one of the world's most prestigious names in automotive engineering, renowned for its innovation, exceptional performance and relentless pursuit of excellence.

We're partnering with an iconic, globally recognised automotive brand that continues to push the boundaries of what's possible, combining cutting-edge technology with world-class engineering to create truly exceptional products.

As part of its continued focus on innovation and future vehicle development, the business is looking to appoint a Commodity Buyer to join its high-performing Procurement team.

This is an exciting opportunity to join a commercially driven procurement function, where you'll take ownership of supplier relationships, lead strategic sourcing activities and negotiate key commercial agreements. Working closely with Engineering, Supplier Quality and other key stakeholders, you'll play an important role in shaping supplier strategy, driving value and supporting the delivery of future programmes.

The Role

Reporting to the Purchasing Manager, you'll take responsibility for developing and delivering commodity strategies, leading sourcing activity and negotiating production supplier contracts.

You'll have the opportunity to make a genuine commercial impact, balancing cost, quality, technical requirements and programme delivery while building strong, collaborative relationships with suppliers and internal stakeholders.

Key responsibilities will include:

  • Leading supplier negotiations and securing commercial contracts across your assigned commodity areas.
  • Developing and implementing sourcing strategies in collaboration with Engineering and Supplier Quality.
  • Driving cost reduction initiatives and challenging supplier cost increases.
  • Managing supplier relationships and acting as the key point of contact for Supplier Relationship Management activities.
  • Evaluating supplier capability and making sourcing recommendations.
  • Monitoring supplier performance against programme targets, including cost, quality, technical requirements and delivery.
  • Supporting risk assessments, cost analysis and wider commercial decision-making.

About You

We're looking for a commercially minded procurement professional with experience in a manufacturing or engineering environment. Automotive experience would be particularly advantageous.

You'll ideally bring:

  • Proven experience in a Buyer, Commodity Buyer or Procurement role.
  • Experience developing commodity strategies and managing supplier sourcing activities.
  • Confidence negotiating commercial agreements and managing supplier relationships.
  • A good understanding of cost breakdown analysis and total acquisition cost.
  • Strong analytical skills and the ability to assess commercial opportunities and supplier risks.
  • The ability to influence and engage stakeholders across Engineering, Quality and other business functions.
  • Excellent communication and negotiation skills.
  • A degree in Business, Engineering or a related discipline would be advantageous, as would an MCIPS qualification.

What's on Offer?

Alongside the opportunity to join an internationally recognised brand, you'll benefit from an attractive package, including:

  • 25 days' annual leave plus bank holidays, with the option to buy or sell up to five additional days.
  • Discretionary annual bonus.
  • Enhanced company pension scheme.
  • Private medical insurance and health cash plan.
  • Life assurance.
  • Structured career development framework.
  • Generous parental leave policies.
  • Lifestyle discounts and a range of health and well-being initiatives.
  • The opportunity to apply for a sabbatical of up to one year after two years' service.

Interested?

This is a fantastic opportunity to bring your procurement expertise to a business with an exceptional reputation for engineering excellence, innovation and performance.

If you're looking for your next challenge and want to be part of a brand that continues to set benchmarks within the automotive industry, we'd love to hear from you.
