The Infectious Disease Alliance (IDA) is seeking a motivated and passionate volunteer to head our Communications team. This role offers a unique opportunity to contribute to IDA’s mission of advocating for effective infectious disease prevention and treatment policies globally. Please note that the role is unpaid as all IDA staff are volunteers.
Overview:
- Position: Communications Lead at IDA
- Location: Remote (if you are located in Copenhagen, it can be hybrid)
- Application Deadline: 30 September 2026
- Hours: Flexible (team is most active in CET timezone)
- Compensation: Unpaid
Responsibilities:
- Social Media Management & Content Creation: Create content for IDA’s accounts (LinkedIn, X, Bluesky), maintain and foster engagement on these platforms, and post regularly about our events and network.
- External Communication: Produce and refine IDA’s external communication media, such as flyers, newsletters, and media on its website; assist in renewing our external communications strategy.
- Internal Communication: Assist in ensuring smooth communication within IDA and its different teams, assisting with the onboarding process and disseminating organization-wide information.
- Brand Management: Ensure that IDA’s visual identity is kept consistent by working together and articulating with other teams on print and web media.
- Event Dissemination: Post about our events on various professional networks and alliances in order to garner interest in the events, and prepare communications to participants.
- Multimedia Projects: Collaborate with our video-maker, our UI/UX designer and our blog writers on diverse multimedia projects.
- Team Management: Lead other members of the Comms team, align with other team managers, and represent the team.
Requirements
- Minimum 2 years of Comms work experience.
- A degree in Communications, Public Health, Political Science, International Relations, or a related field. Background is flexible if previous Comms work can be proven.
- Strong writing skills, familiarity with graphic design tools (work is mostly done in Canva), and social media platforms.
- Interest in global health, infectious diseases, and advocacy.
- Proficiency in English is required; knowledge of additional languages is an asset.
