Communications and Outreach Manager

This position has been deemed critical by the School of Humanities and Sciences Dean’s Office and is exempt from the hiring freeze. Work Arrangement: Hy brid work schedule (at least 3 days per week on-site). May require working flexible hours, including occasional nights and weekends. Budgeted Salary: The budgeted base salary range for this position is $83,000 to $88,663 annually. Department/Program Description: The Program in Human Biology is a large and diverse interdepartmental undergraduate program. with a mission to provide an interdisciplinary approach to understanding the human being from biological, behavioral, social, and cultural perspectives. The Program offers both a Bachelor of Arts and a Bachelor of Science degree option, as well as a minor and an honors program. Majors design an individualized course of study focused on an area of interest within the broad scope of the program. Students also have the opportunity to pursue research or other creative projects within the major as part of their capstone requirement. The Program in Human Biology was established in 1971 and currently has a registered alumni base of over 8,000 from diverse backgrounds. More information can be found at: http://humanbiology.stanford.edu/ Position Summary : T he Program in Human Biology is seeking a full-time Communications and Outreach Manager to provide a full range of support including alumni communications and program events as well as support to the Director of the Program. Under the direction of the Administrative Director, the Communications and Outreach Manager will work with alumni volunteers, faculty, the Office of Development, University Communications, and other University colleagues to develop, implement, and assist with evaluating activities, programs, services, and communications that reach, serve, and engage alumni. Assist with marketing, planning or managing all/part of alumni programs, events, educational opportunities, and/or other alumni initiatives, including but not limited to our annual awards, research, and diploma ceremonies. Projects will include writing donor stewardship reports, drafting letters on behalf of senior leaders, faculty retirement events, and creating a broad range of outreach materials such as newsletters, website copy, and event announcements, using social media where applicable. This position therefore requires versatile communication skills and facility across various design platforms to reach various audiences most effectively. Develop contacts and maintain relationships with alumni, faculty, students, staff, and vendors. Develop and implement a range of alumni events, programs, and services. Coordinate operational and logistical planning of alumni events, activities, outreach efforts, and event registration. Produce reports to evaluate performance of alumni programs and services Recruit and oversee student workers and temporary/casual workers. Minimum Education and Experience Bachelor’s degree and three years of relevant experience or combination of education and relevant experience. Knowledge, Skills and Abilities : Strong written and verbal communication skills. Demonstrated skills at building collaborative relationships with internal colleagues and customers. Ability to work independently and as part of a team to meet expected deadlines and schedules. Excellent customer service skills. Strong project management skills and the ability to manage complex timelines and multiple projects. Computer proficiency and the ability to learn new systems. Detail oriented.
