Show job description
This is a chance to work across one of the world's most recognised brands, telling stories that span everything from exciting Virgin company news and partnerships to the incredible work of Virgin Unite, our independent not-for-profit foundation.

You'll be part of a collaborative, creative team, working closely with senior leaders, high-profile individuals and brilliant people across the Virgin family. It's a varied, hands-on role where no two days look quite the same, and where you'll have the freedom to spot opportunities, challenge the expected and make a real impact.

What you’ll be getting stuck into

  • Making headlines for all the right reasons – developing and delivering creative media strategies that get Virgin, Virgin Unite and our companies noticed across the US and beyond.
  • Putting purpose in the spotlight – proactively uncovering and telling the stories behind Virgin Unite's work, from inspiring partnerships and campaigns to initiatives driving positive social change.
  • Building brilliant media relationships – connecting with journalists, editors and influencers across consumer, business, philanthropic and social-impact media to secure meaningful coverage.
  • Bringing stories to life – creating compelling press releases, thought leadership pieces, executive communications and content that connects with different audiences.
  • Working with some big names – partnering with senior executives, high-profile individuals and teams across the Virgin family to shape messaging, spot opportunities and bring campaigns and announcements to life.
  • Keeping us ahead of the conversation – staying on top of cultural moments, emerging trends and the news agenda, while helping navigate sensitive issues, manage reputational risks and respond confidently when things don't go to plan.
  • Making every story count – tracking media coverage, measuring impact and using insights to make our communications even better.

What you’ll bring

  • A strong communications track record – experience in PR, media relations or communications, with a knack for securing impactful coverage and delivering creative campaigns.
  • A genuine passion for purpose – you're excited by the opportunity to tell stories that make a difference. Experience in the nonprofit, philanthropic, sustainability or social-impact space would be a big plus.
  • Experience navigating complex organisations – you're comfortable juggling different priorities, audiences and stakeholders. Whether you've worked in an agency or in-house across a large, multifaceted business, you know how to see the bigger picture.
  • Brilliant storytelling and media instincts – you're a confident writer, a natural relationship-builder and someone who knows what makes a story worth telling. Experience in travel, experiences or loyalty would be a bonus, but isn't essential.
  • Confidence with people at every level – you're equally comfortable building relationships with journalists, collaborating with colleagues and advising senior leaders or high-profile individuals. You bring sound judgement, warmth and credibility to every conversation.
  • A proactive, adaptable mindset – you thrive when things aren't completely mapped out, can switch gears when priorities change and aren't afraid to roll up your sleeves. You're curious, creative and comfortable using AI tools to work smarter, without losing the human touch that makes great communications stand out.

What you’ll get in return

We know life doesn’t stop when work starts. So we’ve built our benefits to support you - at work and beyond.
  • Life – support when it matters most, with healthcare from day one, mental health support and cover for life’s bigger moments
  • Work – the foundations that set you up for the future, including 401k matching, life insurance and financial wellbeing support
  • Spirit – space to grow and enjoy the journey, with a personal learning budget, mentoring, volunteering time… and our famous “Screw it, let’s do it” pot

It’s all designed to help you feel your best, do your best, and enjoy the ride — with a few extra Virgin touches along the way (because we don’t really do “standard”).

The essentials
  • Salary: $107,000 - $131,000 + bonus — we’re big on transparency, so no smoke and mirrors here. We’ll always offer a salary that reflects your experience, with room to grow within the range.
  • Where you’ll work: We come together in the office around once a week, with the flexibility to be there more often when the role calls for it. The rest is yours to work in your own space.

Bring your whole self
We welcome people from all walks of life, with all kinds of experiences and ways of thinking. Different perspectives, however your mind works, help us see things differently and do things better.

If there’s anything we can do to support you through the hiring process, just let us know, we’ll always do our best to make it work for you.

We believe in using business as a force for good, creating positive change for our people, our communities and the world around us. That includes being a Fair Chance employer and championing strengths like dyslexic thinking - staying open, listening to individual circumstances and focusing on potential.
