About JUNI

JUNI is the springboard for science-based startups in Berlin-Brandenburg, bridging the gap between world-class research and the global market. As a winner of the EXIST lighthouse competition, we are a non-profit organization, supported by a consortium of 40 scientific institutions and 14 industry partners, mobilising over €25 million in total volume. With a focus on AI, life sciences, and greentech, we provide the infrastructure for a new generation of European market leaders.

Your mission

Our story deserves to be heard: by founders and researchers who should know what we offer, by the partners we build with, from Berliner Sparkasse, Bayer and Telekom to TU, Charité and the IHK, and by a wider public we want to win over – because what happens in these labs changes lives, and people should see it.

We are looking for a Communications Manager who can tell that story so it reaches those audiences and stays with them. This is a key role in a young organization with an important mission: bringing science out of the lab and into the world. You report directly to our Head of Communications, who sets brand messaging and narrative. Everything downstream of that is yours: what gets written, published, improved and measured.

Editorial channels

  • Ownership of our editorial channels: LinkedIn as our primary stage, Instagram as a secondary one, our website, and our newsletters
  • Writing the content yourself (posts, newsletter editions, and landing pages) in a voice that is recognisably ours and consistent wherever it appears
  • Building and maintaining our website: you create and update pages yourself, keep content current, and make sure our core audiences find what they need
  • Developing a working repertoire of post formats, newsletter sections, and page templates, so our output is recognisable, consistent and faster to produce
  • Running an editorial calendar and planning ahead of time – you decide what is worth publishing and what is not
  • Regular reporting on core KPIs, including what you would change and why

Partner communications
  • Joint communication with our Business and Science Partners – leading companies and top-tier academic institutions in the region
  • Translating partnerships into content: announcements, joint campaigns, and formats that give both sides something worth sharing
  • Coordinating with partner communications teams, agencies, and internal stakeholders, and holding the quality line when several parties have an opinion

Event communications
  • Communication around our events, from small, exclusive gatherings to our flagship formats: announcement, registration, and the follow-up that makes the next edition easier to fill
  • Live communication on event days: capturing moments as they happen and publishing while they still matter
  • Working with our Events team on audience development: who needs to be in the room, and how we get them there

Your profile

  • Several years of experience in communications, content marketing, or online editorial work, ideally in an organisation where you owned the channels rather than briefed an agency
  • Strong English: our channels currently run in English, and you produce publication-ready content without a second pair of eyes. German fluent on top, for partners, stakeholders, and internal work
  • Excellent writing: you turn complex, research-heavy topics into clear, engaging content for very different audiences
  • Demonstrable experience growing channels: you have moved numbers on LinkedIn, in a newsletter, or on a website, and you can explain exactly how
  • Confident hands-on with a CMS and a newsletter tool: you build pages and campaigns yourself
  • Comfortable with senior partners and institutions: you represent us well and keep things moving without escalating every question
  • You work without being managed: you set your own priorities, know what each piece of work is optimizing for, and are honest about where you still need to grow
  • You see the small broken thing and fix it rather than reporting it
  • You deliver when the plan changes – which it will. You flag problems early and directly, and you find the next route fast
  • Journalistic or PR experience is a plus, as media relations may become part of this role

We offer

  • A role with real ownership: you give a young organisation its public voice, and what you build now is what people will recognise us by
  • A long-term perspective: initially fixed-term for 24 months, with the plan to make it permanent
  • Direct contact with founders, researchers, leading companies, and decision-makers
  • A close-knit team that has each other's back, leaves room for mistakes, and gives you room to grow
  • Flexible working hours and hybrid working
  • A modern working environment across several locations in Berlin
  • Compensation that reflects experience and responsibility
