Why your role matters
As Communications Officer (Internal), you will support the delivery of a trusted, high‑impact corporate communications service, developing and implementing communications plans that support clear and consistent University‑wide messaging.
Sitting within the Corporate Communications team, you will build relationships with your key stakeholders to promote the achievements and activities of the University and its staff through internal communications channels , ensuring staff are informed, connected and engaged.
The Communications Officer (Internal) will report to the Communications Manager (Internal) and has no direct reports.
Your day to day includes:
- Write and disseminate UNSW stories and messages coordinating and delivering University-wide communications, including Inside UNSW and all-staff emails.
- Create clear, engaging and consistent content that keeps staff informed, connected and engaged with what’s happening across the University.
- Partner with stakeholders across UNSW, providing internal communications advice, identifying effective channels and approaches.
- Develop a range of internal communications plans and content, translating complex information into accessible messages for diverse audiences.
- Create and maintain internal communications resources, tools and user the support effective and consistent communications.
- Use insights, feedback and data to understand what’s working and continually improve the reach and impact of UNSW’s internal communications channels.

Who you are: We’re looking for a great communicator with experience in delivering internal communications across a range of platforms, with the following skills and experience:
- Tertiary qualifications with a depth of relevant experience in communications or marketing, or an equivalent level of knowledge gained through any combination of education, training and experience.
- Demonstrated experience in developing, delivering and measuring internal communications within a complex organisational environment.
- Understanding of target audience, with a highly effective writing style in high-impact messaging to internal audiences.
- Demonstrated experience in distilling complex information into simple messages for communication to a diverse stakeholder.
- Proven ability to liaise effectively with internal stakeholders to achieve desired outcomes.
