As a Communications Strategist with UVA Community Health, you will play a highly visible role in shaping the stories, messages, and communications that engage team members, support organizational priorities, and ultimately help strengthen the delivery of exceptional patient care across the health system.

This is an exciting opportunity for a communications professional who enjoys strategic storytelling, stakeholder partnership, and leading communications initiatives in a dynamic healthcare environment. Working within Strategic Marketing & Communications, you will help connect thousands of team members across UVA Community Health through impactful content, organizational messaging, and employee engagement communications.

The Role

As a Communications Strategist, you will serve as a trusted communications advisor and strategic partner to leaders and stakeholders across UVA Community Health. You'll develop and execute communication strategies that support organizational objectives, change initiatives, employee engagement efforts, and internal communications programs.

In this position, you will:

  • Lead the planning, development, and distribution of internal newsletters and employee communications.
  • Create compelling content including articles, announcements, leadership messaging, employee stories, email campaigns, multimedia content, scripts, profiles, and patient-facing communications.
  • Manage editorial calendars, communication planning tools, and content workflows to ensure timely and effective messaging.
  • Partner with leaders, administrators, and department stakeholders to identify communication needs and develop strategic communication plans.
  • Use Salesforce Marketing Cloud and other communication tools to deliver targeted communications to diverse audiences.
  • Collaborate closely with marketing strategy, media relations, digital content, and social media teams to maintain messaging alignment and brand consistency.
  • Support organizational change management initiatives through thoughtful communication planning and execution.
  • Coordinate communications for events, presentations, leadership initiatives, and organizational programs.
  • Contribute to crisis and emergency communications efforts when needed.
  • Identify and elevate meaningful stories that celebrate team members, achievements, and moments of pride across the organization.

Success in this role comes from building strong relationships, bringing fresh ideas to the table, managing multiple priorities, and helping leaders communicate effectively in a fast-paced healthcare environment.
