About MARI Group
MARI is a global events and experiences company powering world-defining live experiences. Our portfolio of
premium live properties spans sports, art, and entertainment — including the Madrid and Miami Open
tennis tournaments, Frieze (a leading voice in contemporary art), and Barrett-Jackson (the premium U.S.
collector car auction company). MARI also includes TodayTix Group, the global e-commerce leader for
cultural experiences, connecting millions of customers with the best in live entertainment.
MARI is reshaping the live events landscape — building a growing portfolio of category-defining events and
brands that set the standard for what's next, across sports, entertainment, art, and lifestyle.
At MARI, you'll work alongside people who are passionate, curious, and driven — people who believe that
live experiences have the power to shape culture, and who care about the work, the mission, and each
other. We welcome outstanding applicants of all backgrounds and encourage everyone to apply.

About the Role
We are seeking a passionate Community Integration Manager to build and lead the community around our
running events at MARI’s Action Sports division. This is a senior commercial role at the heart of Action Sports’ growth across Australia’s running calendar. Based in Melbourne, you’ll sit within the Commercial team, reporting to the Senior Director of Commercial and working closely with the teams behind each event, and your work will have direct impact on participant loyalty and the commercial value of our portfolio.
As the primary owner of the participant, spectator and volunteer experience, you’ll be responsible for building, connecting and growing the community across our events. Starting with our flagship, the Nike Melbourne Marathon, and extending to the Great Ocean Road Running Festival, the Bondi to Manly Ultra, GC30 and GC50, you’ll own the event apps, broadcast experience, entertainment, run club integration, volunteer and event workforce, charity partners and official licensed merchandise. This is a hands-on, cross-functional position for someone who thrives on bringing people together, turning a set of individual races into one connected community and building on the event affiliate program already in place. If you’re energised by live events, culture and sport, and you know how to build a crowd that keeps coming back, this role was built for you.

What Success Looks Like
  • Delivered a standout community experience at the Great Ocean Road Running Festival then followed by Nike Melbourne Marathon — measurably lifting participant satisfaction, spectator turnout and volunteer acquisition and retention.
  • Brought consistency to the community offer across the portfolio, so the Great Ocean Road Running Festival, Bondi to Manly Ultra, GC30 and GC50 share a recognisable MARI standard for apps, entertainment and on-course experience.
  • Grown the event affiliate program — deepening run club integration and cross-event participation so runners at one event discover and enter the others.
  • Strengthened charity partnerships and licensed merchandise into meaningful engagement and revenue contributors, not afterthoughts.
  • Built a reliable volunteer and event workforce pipeline, and the relationships and systems to scale it across events.
  • Play a supportive role at the Melbourne International Flower and Garden Show.

What You’ll Own
  • Flagship community. Lead the end-to-end community experience for the Nike Melbourne Marathon including Club 42, VIR and travel package programming, then extend that standard across the Great Ocean Road Running Festival, Bondi to Manly Ultra, GC30 and GC50.
  • Portfolio connection. Connect the running events into one community, building on and growing the existing event affiliate program to drive cross-event participation and loyalty.
  • Apps and digital experience. Own the participant-facing apps and digital touchpoints — shaping how runners, spectators and supporters engage before, during and after each event.
  • Broadcast. Coordinate broadcast arrangements so each event reaches and engages its audience on-screen as strongly as on-course.
  • Spectators and entertainment. Design the spectator experience and event entertainment that turn a race into a day out and keep crowds coming back.
  • Run club integration. Build and deepen relationships with run clubs, embedding them into the events as a core engine of participation and community.
  • Volunteer and workforce. Recruit, coordinate, train and retain the volunteer base and event workforce, and build the systems to scale it across the portfolio.
  • Training Series and Shakeout Runs. Plan, coordinate and manage a series of community training events to prepare runners and engage community beyond the event weekend.
  • Accessibility, inclusion and sustainability: Manage accessibility and inclusion practices to ensure our event is inclusive for all community groups whilst championing sustainable practices and managing our tree planting program. Charity partners. Manage and grow charity partnerships so they deliver genuine community impact and value for the events.

What You Bring
  • Proven experience building community, engagement or fan experience — ideally in mass-participation events, sport, endurance or a membership-driven brand.
  • A strong feel for running or endurance culture, and credibility with run clubs, participants and volunteers.
  • Track record managing partners and stakeholders — charity partners, suppliers, licensees and internal teams — and getting the best from each.
  • Fluency with digital and app-based experiences, and an instinct for how community shows up across physical and digital touchpoints.
  • Experience coordinating volunteers or an event workforce at scale.
  • Commercial awareness — you understand that community engagement and revenue (merchandise, affiliate, partnerships) reinforce each other.
  • Exceptional organisation, communication and relationship-building skills, and the energy to deliver across multiple events and cities.
  • The traits that make it work here: warmth, hustle, creativity, and a genuine care for the people in and around the events.
