Job Title Community Organizer (AmeriCorps VISTA) Job Summary Rainbow Labs is seeking a mission-driven and relationship-focused Community Organizer to strengthen our community engagement, advocacy, and volunteer mobilization efforts. This position will help build sustainable systems that expand Rainbow Labs' presence across Los Angeles County, cultivate meaningful partnerships, recruit volunteers and mentors, and engage LGBTQ+ youth and allies in community action. Working alongside staff, youth leaders, and community partners, the Community Organizer will develop outreach strategies, coordinate community engagement efforts, and build the infrastructure necessary to support Rainbow Labs' long-term growth and impact. This is an AmeriCorps VISTA position focused on capacity building rather than direct service. Essential Duties & Responsibilities Community Outreach & Partnership Development Research and identify community organizations, schools, businesses, and advocacy groups aligned with Rainbow Labs' mission. Develop and maintain relationships with community partners throughout Los Angeles County. Represent Rainbow Labs at community events, resource fairs, Pride celebrations, and networking opportunities. Identify opportunities for collaboration that increase awareness of Rainbow Labs and expand services for LGBTQ+ youth. Community Organizing & Engagement Develop outreach strategies to recruit volunteers, mentors, and community supporters. Support youth-led advocacy and civic engagement initiatives. Coordinate Rainbow Labs' participation in community events and public engagement opportunities. Assist with planning community campaigns that increase visibility and participation. Systems Development Create and maintain outreach databases, partnership trackers, and engagement dashboards using Monday.com and other organizational tools. Develop standardized outreach materials, volunteer onboarding resources, and partnership packets. Track community engagement metrics and prepare quarterly reports for leadership. Build sustainable systems that strengthen long-term community engagement efforts. Administrative Support Maintain accurate records of partnerships, volunteer recruitment, and community engagement activities. Assist with event logistics and community communications. Collaborate with staff to ensure outreach efforts align with organizational priorities. Perform other duties as assigned. Qualifications Required Passion for LGBTQ+ youth empowerment and social justice. Strong communication and relationship-building skills. Excellent organizational and project management abilities. Ability to work independently and collaboratively. Comfortable representing Rainbow Labs in community settings. Commitment to diversity, equity, inclusion, and belonging. Preferred Experience in community organizing, outreach, volunteer engagement, or event coordination. Experience using Microsoft Office, Google Workspace, Monday.com, or similar CRM/project management tools. Bilingual (Spanish/English) is a plus but not required.
