Position Overview Texas Tool Belt is seeking Community Organizers to build authentic relationships, grow grassroots leadership, and mobilize community members around civic engagement, labor, issue advocacy, and nonpartisan initiatives. Community Organizers work directly in neighborhoods and community spaces to educate, engage, and activate residents while strengthening long-term community power. This role is ideal for organizers who are people-centered, disciplined, and motivated by impact—not just activity. Key Responsibilities Build and maintain trusted relationships with community members, leaders, and partner organizations Conduct door-to-door, phone, text, and in-person outreach in assigned communities Educate residents on civic participation, voting rights, labor engagement, issue advocacy, or nonpartisan initiatives (program-dependent) Recruit, train, and support volunteers, leaders, or community ambassadors Facilitate small group conversations, community meetings, and outreach events Track outreach activity and outcomes accurately using assigned data systems Analyze basic performance metrics and adjust organizing strategies accordingly Identify community concerns, barriers, and opportunities, and report insights to management Participate in required trainings, staff meetings, and debriefs Uphold all legal, compliance, and program-specific guidelines Represent Texas Tool Belt with professionalism, integrity, and cultural competency Perform other duties as assigned Position Requirements Ability to work 25–40 hours per week , including evenings and weekends Strong interpersonal, communication, and relationship-building skills Experience or interest in community organizing, labor, advocacy, or civic engagement Comfort engaging people from diverse backgrounds and lived experiences Ability to work independently while contributing to a structured team environment Willingness to receive feedback, coaching, and continuous skill development Ability to meet outreach and organizing goals Access to a charged smartphone and comfort using digital tools for data entry Willingness to work outdoors and in community settings in varying weather conditions Valid driver’s license, reliable transportation, and proof of insurance required Basic navigation and mapping skills using mobile apps Interview & Hiring Process Online application Video interview with HR Interview with organizing leadership Reference check Invitation to orientation Compensation & Benefits Competitive hourly or salaried compensation (based on experience and program) Paid time off Paid training and professional development Opportunities for advancement into Lead Organizer, Trainer, or Field Manager roles Our Commitment Texas Tool Belt values honesty, accountability, collaboration, cultural competency, and bold leadership .
