The Health Services Department is committed to maintaining the optimal health of low-income residents of Boston and surrounding communities through the ABCD Family Planning Partnership and several cutting-edge, community-based disease prevention and health promotion programs. Key Responsibilities

Program Management:
  • Develop and implement a city wide community prevention education and outreach program- based on established program goals/objectives and emerging trends identified through existing programming and evaluations.
  • Develop and implement educational and outreach models appropriate to the developmental, gender and cultural needs of the community/targeted populations.
  • Ensure that the delivery of community programs that are evidence-based and/or best practices. This includes keeping current of federal/state approved interventions and new behavioral models relevant to the focus populations including young adult and adolescents of color living in the Boston area.
  • Review and update programming based on community needs assessment on behavior change models, health promotion planning tools and literature reviews.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with key community based-organizations and stakeholders for program coordination, collaboration and partnership.
  • Develop and implement program outreach, recruitment and marketing strategies to increase community/participant awareness of and access to services. Use various marketing methods including social media (Twitter, Facebook, Instagram, etc.).
  • Develop and oversee social media campaigns to educate, provide support, and outreach to our focus populations.
  • Collaborate with ABCD’s internal departments on all media activities, resource development, and promotional materials.
  • Develop/implement community events in the promotion and marketing of programs and initiatives.
  • Provide supportive supervision to all community prevention staff.
Program Administration:
  • With support from the Director of Health services and the Business Operations Coordinator, manage Prevention budgets, contracts, invoices, time cards, and other administrative tasks as assigned and in accordance to ABCD and state and federal grant guidelines.
Program monitoring and reporting:
  • Develop, maintain and update program monitoring procedures for assessing the process and effectiveness of funded programs and initiatives according to program guidelines and requirements that includes development of data collection tools, data procedures and data entry and record keeping.
  • Prepare monthly, quarterly and annual reports required by funders based on funding guidelines and procedures, department and agency expectations.
Program Evaluation:
  • Lead all evaluation activities required by funders in collaboration with the Dept. Director.
  • Design and review collection tools such as survey tools and focus group/interview protocols in collaboration with evaluation team.
  • Develop the strategic direction and identifying key program indicators to meet required funding requirements and local program objectives for ongoing program quality improvement in collaboration with evaluation team.
Program Development:
  • Identify funding opportunities to sustain and expand community prevention programs and initiatives.
  • Develop new program models and initiatives based on identified needs and trends from program implementation and evaluation.
  • Develop and coordinate grant applications for renewing and new solicitations in collaboration with department/agency staff and consultants.
  • Maintain professional standards program and client confidentiality across program and initiatives.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.

Skills, Knowledge and Expertise

  • Significant professional experience in prevention and community education. Minimum of a Bachelor’s degree in health education/counseling, human services, or related public health fields. Advanced degree preferred.
  • Demonstrated professional experience, leadership, and education in the delivery of sexual and reproductive health prevention and education including HIV/AIDS and STI prevention education, and outreach with adolescents and young adults.
  • Demonstrated program management, program design and implementation skills.
  • Must be able to work sensitively and effectively with individuals of diverse educational, socio-economic and cultural backgrounds.
Expected Salary: $74,256 annually ($40.80/hour) USD. Salary scales are set according to an explicit compensation policy and relevant market data. Due to funding restrictions and our strong focus on internal parity, this salary is thoughtfully aligned with the duties expected for this role, and offers are firm.
