About Direct Crypto Limited

Direct Crypto Limited is a newly established MiCA-regulated Crypto-Asset Service Provider (CASP) headquartered in Cyprus and part of the Wirex Holdings Ltd group.

We are building a compliance-first, institutionally focused crypto infrastructure platform providing safekeeping, exchange, and transfer services to regulated financial institutions, fintechs, and Web3 businesses across the EEA.

This is an opportunity to join a new entity at a pivotal stage of its development and play a key role in shaping its compliance framework, governance, culture, and operating model from the ground up.

About the Role

We are looking for a hands-on and highly capable Compliance & AML Officer to support the Chief Operating & Risk Officer in establishing and maintaining Direct Crypto Limited's regulatory compliance and financial crime framework.

This is a foundational role with broad responsibility across regulatory compliance, AML/CFT, financial crime prevention, and regulatory readiness.

You will contribute directly to the development and implementation of the firm's compliance framework as Direct Crypto Limited progresses through its MiCA CASP authorization process and into ongoing regulated operations.

The role requires a high degree of independence, strong regulatory judgment, and the ability to work effectively in a newly established and evolving environment.

Compliance & AML Framework

  • Develop, implement, maintain, and continuously enhance AML/CFT policies, procedures, and controls in line with MiCAR, AMLR, FATF recommendations, and applicable CySEC requirements.
  • Establish and maintain effective financial crime controls covering KYC, CDD, EDD, transaction monitoring, sanctions screening, and ongoing customer monitoring.
  • Monitor regulatory developments across the EU and provide timely updates and guidance to management.
  • Support the preparation and submission of regulatory reports, suspicious transaction reports, and other mandatory regulatory disclosures.
  • Identify opportunities to strengthen the firm's compliance framework and control environment.

Regulatory & Licensing Support

  • Support the CASP authorization and post-authorization process by preparing compliance documentation, policies, procedures, and regulatory responses.
  • Support regulatory inspections, audits, reviews, and information requests, ensuring documentation is accurate, complete, and readily available.
  • Assist the CORO and Managing Director with engagement with CySEC and other relevant regulatory authorities.
  • Maintain appropriate records and evidence demonstrating compliance with regulatory requirements.
  • Support the implementation of regulatory changes and related remediation activities.

Risk Assessment & Reporting

  • Conduct and maintain the firm's Business-Wide Risk Assessment (BWRA).
  • Support the development and maintenance of Customer Risk Assessments (CRA) and related risk methodologies.
  • Identify, assess, document, and escalate compliance breaches, control weaknesses, and emerging financial crime and regulatory risks.
  • Prepare clear and accurate compliance and AML reports for management and the Board.
  • Track compliance actions, remediation activities, and regulatory commitments through to completion.

Operational Compliance

  • Provide day-to-day compliance guidance to operational teams on customer onboarding, transaction monitoring, customer lifecycle management, and other compliance matters.
  • Review and advise on higher-risk customers, transactions, and compliance cases.
  • Deliver compliance and AML training and awareness programmes across the business.
  • Promote a strong culture of compliance, financial crime prevention, and regulatory accountability.
  • Participate in relevant industry forums and represent Direct Crypto Limited and the Wirex Group professionally where required.

Essential Experience & Skills

  • Minimum 5 years of hands-on experience in compliance, AML, or financial crime within a regulated financial services, payments, fintech, or crypto-asset environment.
  • Strong practical knowledge of MiCAR, AMLR, EU AML requirements, FATF recommendations, and CySEC regulatory expectations.
  • Demonstrable experience across KYC, CDD, EDD, transaction monitoring, sanctions screening, and financial crime controls.
  • Experience supporting regulatory examinations, audits, inspections, or licensing/authorization processes.
  • Experience developing, implementing, or enhancing compliance policies, procedures, and control frameworks.
  • Strong analytical and investigative skills, with the ability to assess complex compliance and financial crime risks.
  • Excellent organizational skills and strong attention to detail.
  • Excellent written and verbal English communication skills.
  • Current residency in Cyprus is mandatory.

Preferred

  • Professional certification such as ICA, ACAMS/CAMS, or an equivalent compliance or AML qualification.
  • Previous experience within a MiCA, CASP, EMI, payments, or other regulated financial services environment.
  • Experience working directly with CySEC or another European financial regulator.
  • Familiarity with automated KYC, sanctions screening, transaction monitoring, and compliance technology platforms.
  • Greek language skills would be an advantage.

We are looking for someone who:

  • Acts with integrity, independence, and sound judgment in a regulated environment.
  • Takes a proactive and solutions-focused approach to compliance challenges.
  • Is comfortable working independently in a newly established and evolving organization.
  • Builds strong relationships across teams and promotes a positive compliance culture.
  • Takes ownership and drives continuous improvement in policies, controls, and processes.
  • Communicates complex regulatory requirements clearly to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Is committed to high standards of financial crime prevention and regulatory compliance.
  • Supports colleagues in developing their compliance knowledge and capabilities.
  • Contributes positively to the wider team's success.

What We Offer

  • Flexible working arrangements with hybrid working options.
  • Annual training and professional development allowance.
  • Support for relevant professional certifications, including ICA, ACAMS/CAMS, or equivalent.
  • The opportunity to help shape a MiCA-regulated entity from inception.
  • A high-impact role with direct exposure to senior management and regulatory matters.
  • Career development opportunities within an innovative, globally regulated FinTech group.
  • The opportunity to work as part of the wider Wirex Group.
