UVA School of Nursing seeks candidates for a Compliance Officer (CO) position. This full-time staff position requires the incorporation of data management and regulatory guidelines to ensure that students are compliant with all clinical requirements using specified requirements for the School of Nursing, as well as external clinical sites. Additionally, the CO will manage databases and prepare reports needed for mandated surveys and report to the Director of Compliance, Accreditation, and Enhancement and collaborate frequently with the Director of Degree Program Administration, Program Managers, Clinical Coordinators, faculty, and external site contacts on clinical compliance issues/policies/procedures. Hybrid-remote work is possible.
Responsibilities:
- Assist with the development and implementation of student policies and procedures for the School of Nursing, including but not limited to:
- School of Nursing requirements (e.g. certifications, licenses, immunizations, learning modules)
- Clinical site requirements (e.g. learning modules, HIPAA documents, drug screens, required forms, etc.)
- Criminal Background Checks
- Have awareness of and make policy adjustments as needed regarding laws, rules, regulations, and policies that impact compliance requirements and initiatives
- Monitor student compliance with all applicable policies and procedures and communicate needs with students, staff, and faculty as necessary
- Oversee all aspects of clinical placement compliance from the determination of student placement at a site through to full compliance with site requirements
- Coordinate the preparation of compliance reports mandated by regulatory agencies; review reports and ensure accuracy and completeness of information
- Conduct compliance education sessions and orientation to relevant compliance systems for students
- Act as a liaison and compliance resource person to various programs and departments
- Coordinate periodic compliance events such as Compliance Days and group CPR appointments
- Conduct annual reviews of states’ licensing and certification requirements as required under UVA’s professional licensure programs policy
- Along with program manager’s team, ensure database of clinical sites and all relevant placement information is kept current
- Serve on various committees as assigned or required
- Complete compliance related tasks assigned by the Director of Compliance, Accreditation, and Enhancement
- Maintain a high degree of confidentiality on all sensitive information this position is privy to
- Comply with all Commonwealth of Virginia and UVA policies
- Other duties as assigned
Minimum Qualifications
- Education: High School Diploma
- Ability to manage datasets efficiently and balance multiple priorities independently
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree highly preferred
- At least five years of relevant work experience highly preferred
- Experience in project management, working with compliance databases and related software such as MyRecordTracker, Castlebranch, MyClinical Exchange, Exaat, Typhon, TrueScreen, etc.
- Previous compliance experience in a health profession field
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office software and ability to learn and use institutional software systems related to compliance
Physical Demands
This is primarily a sedentary job involving extensive use of desktop computers.
The hiring range is $52,000-$62,000, commensurate with education and experience.

This position is based in Charlottesville, VA, and is eligible for a hybrid schedule of 2-3 days on grounds per week, with additional on-site presence as needed, in accordance with UVA’s remote work guidelines.
