Employment Type: Permanent

Summary of the role:

The Consignment Analyst owns the monthly consignment revenue cycle for a global entertainment and consumer products client, from consignee sales data through to posted journal entries and reconciled balances. The role works to a fixed close calendar and is the process owner for consignment revenue documentation and controls evidence.

As part of your duties, you will be responsible for:

Consignment revenue accounting
  • Own the end-to-end monthly consignment close across all consignees, delivered to a fixed day-2 and day-5 journal entry calendar
  • Build revenue recognition schedules from sales order and consignee sales data for each release
  • Calculate consignment revenue estimates each period and document the basis for the estimate
  • Apply revenue recognition treatment consistent with ASC 606 and client accounting policy, escalating judgement calls for review
  • Prepare and post journal entries with complete supporting schedules
Reconciliation and reporting
  • Reconcile consignee reporting, the sub-ledger and the general ledger, resolving variances to root cause
  • Maintain inventory-linked, deferred and unbilled positions where they apply
  • Prepare period-close schedules and variance commentary for review
  • Support month, quarter and year-end reporting requirements
Documentation and controls
  • Maintain keystroke-level SOPs and process maps for the consignment cycle under version control
  • Operate maker-checker review and retain evidence for quality sampling and audit
  • Support internal and external audit requests with documentation and clear explanation
  • Identify control gaps and manual effort, and propose automation or simplification

Qualifications and experience we consider to be essential for the role:

  • Minimum 3 years of experience in revenue accounting, record to report or general accounting
  • Bachelor's degree in accounting or finance; part-qualified or qualified ACCA, CIMA or ACA preferred
  • Working knowledge of revenue recognition principles, with ASC 606 exposure preferred
  • Strong Excel, including large reconciliation and schedule workbooks
  • ERP experience, Oracle preferred
  • Accuracy under a fixed close calendar, and the ability to explain how a number was derived and defend it to a reviewer or auditor
  • Exposure to consignment, royalty or licensing accounting is an advantage

As part of a leading global Data and AI company, you can look forward to:

  • A competitive salary with a generous bonus, private healthcare, critical illness life assurance at 4 x your annual salary, income protection insurance, and a rewarding pension.
  • EXL provides everyday financial well-being solutions, such as cash back cards, in which you can earn cashback while enjoying discounts, promotions, and offers from top retailers. We also offer a Cycle Scheme where you can save money on bikes and cycling accessories.
