About Us OMG Federal is part of a family of tribally owned businesses supporting the Otoe Missouria Tribe, dedicated to delivering high-quality solutions across a range of industries. Our Construction Division supports federal, commercial, and tribal clients with expert program management, construction oversight, and estimating services. Position Summary OMG Federal is seeking a highly experienced and detail-oriented Construction Estimator to support a large commercial project (TBD) located in California. This is a part-time, consultant-style, remote opportunity ideal for a seasoned professional with a strong background in pricing and validating contractor and subcontractor estimates on complex construction programs ranging from $50M plus. This role is well-suited for an estimator who has worked closely with project owners or owner’s representatives, providing independent cost analysis, budget validation, and strategic input throughout the preconstruction process. Key Responsibilities Review project drawings, specifications, bid packages, and contract documents to develop a comprehensive understanding of project scope. Prepare detailed and accurate cost estimates across all construction divisions, including labor, materials, equipment, and subcontractor scopes. Analyze, validate, and benchmark contractor and subcontractor pricing to ensure competitiveness and alignment with current market conditions. Provide owner-side cost advisory services, including independent estimate validation, budget development, and reconciliation of contractor bids. Support owners and stakeholders in making informed financial decisions by presenting clear cost breakdowns, risks, and value engineering options. Utilize industry-standard cost data and tools (including RS Means) to support estimate development and validation. Perform quantity take-offs and cost analysis for various building systems and scopes of work. Solicit, review, and level subcontractor and supplier proposals to ensure completeness and accuracy. Lead or support bid leveling, scope alignment, and owner-focused bid review processes. Develop and present estimate summaries, assumptions, inclusions/exclusions, and cost breakdowns tailored for executive and owner-level review. Maintain and apply historical cost data, unit pricing, and benchmarking methodologies. Monitor market trends, escalation factors, labor conditions, and material pricing to inform estimates. Support procurement and post-bid activities, including scope comparisons, value engineering, and change order pricing from an owner’s perspective. Collaborate with project managers, engineers, and stakeholders to ensure estimates align with project execution strategies and owner expectations. Ensure compliance with OMG Federal’s quality standards, federal contracting requirements, and ethical business practices. Minimum Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in construction management, Engineering, or a strongly related field (preferred). Seven plus (7+) years of experience in construction estimating, with a focus on large commercial or institutional projects at a range of $50 million plus. Demonstrated experience working with or supporting project owners, owner’s representatives, or developer-led projects. Proven ability to analyze and validate contractor and subcontractor pricing on behalf of an owner or client. Proficiency with estimating tools and software, including RS Means (required). Strong analytical, mathematical, and problem-solving skills with a high level of accuracy and attention to detail. Ability to work independently in a remote environment and manage multiple priorities effectively. Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including experience presenting to owner stakeholders or executive teams. Preferred Qualifications Experience in an owner’s rep, consulting, or advisory capacity supporting construction projects. Experience with federal or government-related construction projects. Familiarity with cost benchmarking, value engineering, and lifecycle cost analysis. Experience supporting design-build or negotiated procurement environments. Knowledge of construction scheduling impacts on cost and phasing. Experience participating in owner-driven budget development, GMP reviews, and cost reconciliation processes. Work Environment & Schedule Remote-based, part-time/consulting role with flexible scheduling. Project-based engagement with potential for ongoing assignments. Travel may be required for project meetings or site visits. Equal Employment Opportunity (EEO) Statement Otoe-Missouria Group, LLC (OMG) is an Equal Opportunity Employer.
