A privately held commercial general contractor specializing in nationwide retail renovations and multi-location construction programs, is seeking a Senior Estimator - Commercial Retail Construction to join its growing team in Flowery Branch, GA. This hybrid opportunity offers the chance to take ownership of retail construction estimates, help shape a developing preconstruction department, and make a meaningful impact on a business with established national customer relationships.

What You'll Do as the Senior Estimator - Commercial Retail Construction:

  • Lead estimates for commercial retail renovations, store remodels, tenant improvements, and multi-location rollout programs.
  • Review construction documents, specifications, and project requirements to develop accurate, competitive pricing.
  • Perform quantity takeoffs, evaluate trade coverage, and assemble comprehensive project estimates.
  • Manage multiple bids simultaneously while meeting fast-moving deadlines.
  • Request, review, and compare subcontractor and supplier proposals.
  • Identify missing scope, pricing inconsistencies, construction risks, and opportunities to improve project value.
  • Develop relationships with trade partners across multiple regional markets.
  • Coordinate with Project Managers and construction leadership during bid reviews, subcontractor buyout, and project transitions.
  • Improve estimating templates, workflows, documentation, and bid management practices.
  • Help establish consistent estimating procedures as the preconstruction department expands.
  • Mentor a developing junior estimator and collaborate with internal coordination support.
  • Partner with senior leadership to evaluate estimating tools and identify opportunities for greater efficiency.

Must-Haves as the Senior Estimator - Commercial Retail Construction:

  • 5+ years of commercial construction estimating experience.
  • Experience estimating projects for a commercial general contractor.
  • Ability to independently prepare estimates, including takeoffs, trade pricing, scope review, and bid comparisons.
  • Strong understanding of commercial construction drawings, specifications, subcontractor scopes, and project costs.
  • Experience managing competing bid deadlines and multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Familiarity with subcontractor procurement and preconstruction workflows.
  • Strong communication, organization, and problem-solving skills.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and experience using construction estimating or bid management tools.
  • Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Engineering, Architecture, or a related field, or substantial additional relevant experience subject to client approval.
  • Ability to work regularly onsite in Flowery Branch, GA, preferably Tuesday through Thursday.

Nice-to-Haves as the Senior Estimator - Commercial Retail Construction:

  • Direct experience estimating big-box retail renovations, grocery remodels, tenant improvements, or national store rollout programs.
  • 8+ years of commercial general contracting estimating experience.
  • Previous experience as a Senior Estimator, Lead Estimator, or comparable senior contributor.
  • Experience estimating numerous smaller, fast-turnaround projects rather than exclusively large ground-up builds.
  • Experience improving or establishing estimating processes and departmental workflows.
  • Experience mentoring junior estimators.
  • Existing relationships with commercial retail subcontractors and suppliers.
  • Familiarity with BuildingConnected, PlanHub, Bluebeam, or comparable platforms.
  • Experience in a smaller or growing commercial construction organization.

The Company Offers:

  • Base salary of $100,000-$115,000, with potential flexibility up to approximately $125,000-$130,000 for an exceptional candidate.
  • Medical, dental, and vision insurance.
  • Flexible PTO offerings.
  • Hybrid schedule, preferably Tuesday through Thursday onsite with Monday and Friday remote.
  • Limited travel, up to approximately 10%.
  • Opportunity to help build and influence a growing preconstruction department.
  • Direct access to experienced construction leadership.
  • Opportunities to mentor developing team members and improve companywide estimating practices.
  • A collaborative team with a mix of emerging talent and long-tenured construction professionals.
  • Exposure to retail construction programs across multiple national markets.
  • Long-term growth potential within an established contractor continuing to expand its capabilities.
