Urban Planner Consultant – Environment & Planning
At Aurecon, we are engineering optimists who see the world differently. We ask what’s possible and turn ideas into impact. Here, you’ll bring your expertise to challenges that matter, alongside people who think boldly and are determined to make a difference.
What you’ll do
As an Urban Planner Consultant in our Environment & Planning team based in Brisbane, you’ll take on statutory and strategic planning work across infrastructure and development projects, helping shape solutions for our clients and communities. You’ll work with people across disciplines, test ideas and find better ways to solve complex problems.
- Support the delivery of statutory planning, regulatory approvals, strategic planning, feasibility and environmental assessment work across energy, water, government, aviation, transport and resources projects
- Undertake research, site and policy analysis, and prepare planning reports, approval documentation, technical inputs and client presentations
- Interpret relevant planning and environmental legislation, policies and approval pathways, escalating complex matters when required
- Work with multidisciplinary teams to coordinate technical inputs and deliver clear, integrated planning advice
- Participate in client and stakeholder meetings, consultations and project communications, while contributing to proposals and bids
Your experience and expertise
- A bachelor’s degree or higher in urban planning, environmental planning or a related discipline
- Typically 3 to 6 years of experience in urban, environmental, infrastructure or development planning within consulting, government or a related environment
- Working knowledge of statutory or strategic planning, including policy review, development assessment, infrastructure planning or environmental approvals
- Experience supporting projects, coordinating inputs and delivering work to agreed quality, time and budget expectations
- Strong communication, collaboration and stakeholder engagement skills
- The ability to see the big picture, challenge assumptions and bring diverse thinking
