The GTDA FinOps Strategy, Governance & Value Realization team sits at the intersection of technology, business, and finance. The team partners across Cloud Engineering, Product Engineering, Platform Engineering, Finance, and business leadership to improve cost transparency, capacity planning, optimization accountability, and investment value realization. Its mission is to build trusted reporting, governance standards, and decision-ready insights that help TransUnion manage cloud and infrastructure spend more effectively while enabling sustainable technology growth

This is a hybrid position and involves regular performance of job responsibilities virtually as well as in-person at an assigned TU office location for a minimum of two days a week.

Role Overview And Core Responsibilities

We are looking for a data-driven, analytically minded Consultant to join TransUnion’s Enterprise Cloud Economics / FinOps team. This role sits at the intersection of technology, business, and finance, helping TransUnion improve how it understands, governs, and optimizes cloud, AI, and infrastructure spend.
In this role, you will transform raw cost, usage, and capacity data into transparent dashboards, actionable insights, and measurable business value. You will partner closely with Technology Strategy & Governance, Cloud Engineering, Finance, Product Engineering, Platform Engineering, and business stakeholders to support FinOps governance, cost transparency, capacity planning, optimization tracking, and executive reporting.
This is a high-visibility, high-impact role for someone who enjoys connecting technical data with financial discipline and business decision-making in a large-scale enterprise technology environment.
  • Build and maintain cloud, AI, and infrastructure cost dashboards for leadership, engineering, finance, and business stakeholders.
  • Analyze cloud spend, infrastructure usage, capacity trends, cost variances, and optimization opportunities.
  • Translate technical cost and capacity data into business and financial insights that support executive decision-making.
  • Produce monthly reporting inputs, executive scorecards, and governance materials for cloud and AI economics.
  • Develop capacity utilization reporting across cloud compute, storage, database, network, server, VMware, middleware, and related infrastructure domains.
  • Consolidate demand signals from engineering and business teams into a forward-looking view of capacity requirements.
  • Support performance and capacity analysis by working with application and platform owners on right-sizing, configuration, query/index optimization, and infrastructure improvement opportunities.
  • Track cloud commitments, reservations, savings plans, committed-use discounts, GPU utilization, and other capacity or consumption-based economics.
  • Manage the optimization pipeline from opportunity intake through prioritization, implementation, and Finance-validated value realization.
  • Identify spend accountability gaps and help route ownership to the appropriate engineering, product, platform, or business teams.
  • Support the FinOps governance calendar, ensuring operational changes align with finance close, forecasting, budgeting, and planning cycles.
  • Partner cross-functionally across technology, business, and finance teams to improve cost transparency, accountability, and measurable outcomes.

Required Knowledge And Experiences

  • Experience in cloud financial management, capacity planning, IT finance, infrastructure reporting, or a related analytical field.
  • Working understanding of enterprise infrastructure including server, storage, network, virtualization (VMware), database, middleware, and common operating systems.
  • Solid understanding of infrastructure and business capacity planning, with demonstrated reporting and performance analysis skills.
  • Working knowledge of public cloud platforms — GCP and/or AWS — including cloud cost fundamentals such as committed-use discounts, savings plans, tagging, and resource lifecycle.
  • Proficiency in Google BigQuery for querying and analyzing cloud cost and usage datasets.
  • Strong analytical skills with proficiency in reporting and analysis tools including Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint; experience with cloud cost tooling such as Harness CCM is a plus.
  • Experience building capacity utilization reports across storage, server, VMware, database, and network infrastructure domains.
  • Ability to manage current usage statistics and develop projected growth estimates from business demand signals.
  • Clear, professional written and verbal communication skills — able to translate complex infrastructure and cost data into actionable insights for audiences at all levels.
  • Proven ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment with multiple priorities and competing deadlines.
  • Self-starter who works well independently and collaborates effectively within a cross-functional team.
  • The ability to socialize ideas, make recommendations, and gather team consensus to move initiatives forward.

GOOD TO HAVE

  • Familiarity with FinOps principles and frameworks — FinOps Foundation certification (FOCP or equivalent) is a plus.
  • Scripting or automation skills such as VBA, PowerShell, or SQL to improve reporting efficiency.
  • Experience with Splunk or similar observability/analytics platforms for infrastructure performance analysis.
  • Experience integrating cloud economics data into financial planning workflows such as forecasting, budgeting, or chargeback/showback.
  • Background supporting a federated or matrixed technology organization.
  • Familiarity with workflow and ticketing systems such as JIRA or ServiceNow/Remedy.
  • Experience with AI/ML or GPU infrastructure cost reporting and governance.
