The Consultant, Modern Networking will deliver exceptional service to clients, both proactive and reactive support, ensuring a positive client experience and fostering strong client relationships. This role involves remote and onsite IT support and technical implementations. The role falls within our Modern Networking team and is responsible for delivering IT consultancy services to a broad range of clients. The Consultant, Modern Networking works in a collaborative method with peers and clients to design and deliver managed services and IT projects through all project phases, including presales. The incumbent will be required to demonstrate a high level of proficiency in translating business requirements into technical solutions, while communicating project needs, constraints, and successes. The position reports to the Manager, Service Delivery. The position works 40 hours per week, with business hours being 8:00am to 5:00pm PT/MT, Monday to Friday. Balancing multiple project priorities with deadlines is a requirement and there may be a requirement for after-hours work and/or travel depending on project needs. This is the place for you. What You’ll Do Here Work with a team of other network consultants to provide network support and technical solutions to a broad range of clients. Provide networking expertise to our other technical teams. Participate in technical escalations. Plan and execute network security implementation or migration projects. Conduct network assessments. Lead or participate in projects from initial assessment, creation of Statement of Work documents, technical design, planning, through implementation and handover. Provide guidance to clients on new technologies implemented, including training session/knowledge transfer. Develop technical design and as-built documentation. Identify when best practices need to be updated or new best practices are required. Develop and document procedures for recurring client services. Complete scheduled Managed Services health checks, implement incremental improvements, and perform firmware and configuration updates in client environments. Respond to identified vulnerabilities in client environments related to security scans and vulnerability assessments. Qualifications/Expertise 7+ years of directly relevant experience in a complex network environment. Proven experience in wired network design and implementation to best practices. Proven experience in wireless design and implementation to best practices. Expert level knowledge of enterprise firewall management and configuration, including optimization and hardening. Expert level knowledge of Azure IAAS cloud networking & firewalling. Expert level knowledge of datacenter networking. Expert level knowledge of integration of Security Services Edge platforms and implementation. Experience supporting both traditional and cloud network infrastructure. Proven experience in the design, implementation, ongoing management, and upgrade of the following network technologies (or equivalent): Aruba CX Switching. Aruba AP Wireless. Aruba Central Cloud Management. Aruba Clearpass. Azure Virtual Network, Gateway, VPN, network appliances, and related technologies. Cisco Catalyst, Nexus, and Meraki Switching. Cisco Catalyst and Meraki Wireless. Fortinet Firewalls, FortiSwitches, and FortiAP’s. Fortinet FortiCloud, FortiManager, and FortiAnalyzer. Palo Alto Firewalls. Palo Alto Panorama. Zscaler Security Services Edge Platform. Cloudflare Security Services Edge Platform. Certifications (achieved at least one of, willing to work toward, or equivalent experience) [KB3] HPE Aruba Networking Certifications (Switching, Campus Access, Network Security, Data Center). Cisco CCNA or higher. Fortinet Certified Associate or higher. Palo Alto Next Generation Firewall Engineer. Zscaler EDU-200, EDU-202, ZDTE (or equivalent). Microsoft Certified: Azure Network Engineer Associate (AZ-700). Accountabilities, Tasks and Duties Client Relationships Understand and interpret customer needs so we can provide excellent service levels. Develop strong and lasting customer relationships with key clients. Communicate professionally with clients, showing attention to detail and care in outputs. Set realistic expectations, communicate risk, and manage uncertainty. Stay current with the latest technology trends. Follows team-owned best practices and standards and suggests new innovative approaches. Develop, document, and maintain processes and procedures related to IT delivery & managed services. Pass certification exams and complete training as appropriate to demonstrate skillset to clients and foster strong vendor relationships. Delivery & Execution Utilize IX Solutions’ ticketing systems, reporting tools, and documentation repositories. Triage support requests in a queue, prioritizing and identifying risk appropriately. Provide hands-on-site support for clients and colleagues when required. Technical Expertise & Growth Solid foundational knowledge in relevant technologies & subject areas. Show curiosity and willingness to learn new tools & methods. Seek feedback, reflect on performance, and apply learnings appropriately. Pass certification exams and complete training as appropriate to demonstrate skillset to clients and foster strong vendor relationships.
