Job Title: Principle Presales Consultant | Unified Engineering

Location: Madrid, Spain (Hybrid)

Employment Type: full-time

The job

As a Principal Presales Consultant | Unified Engineering, you will lead the technical sales engagement for new and existing customers in Iberia and EMEA region, partnering with Account Managers, Product Sales, Marketing, CSMs and our partner ecosystem throughout the sales cycle to generate, qualify, and develop new business opportunities.

You will act as a trusted advisor, owning the technical win plan across the sales cycle —discovery, workshops, architecture, demonstrations, Proof of Value, and technical proposals— showcasing how AVEVA Unified Engineering and the CONNECT industrial platform deliver measurable value aligned to customer outcomes in EPC and Owner Operator engineering workflows.

In this highly customer-facing and visible role, you will be a key contributor to growth in Southern Europe market, influencing how customers adopt our technologies and ensuring field feedback is captured and shared to improve messaging, demo assets and portfolio direction through close collaboration with Marketing, Product Management, R&D and Delivery.

The role includes up to 40% travel (including international) and requires continuous learning on industry trends, competitors’ information and emerging technologies (Cloud/SaaS, AI/ML), while upholding AVEVA’s values: Impact, Aspiration, Curiosity and Trust.

Key responsibilities

  • Enable Unified Engineering business growth through direct and partner-led sales, supporting new logo and expansion strategies (account plans/reviews).
  • Partner with Sales to qualify opportunities and lead discovery sessions/technical workshops to understand customer needs, define success criteria, and shape the solution approach.
  • Own and deliver the presales technical engagement: presentations, story-driven demonstrations, RFX responses, and Proof of Value—clearly evidencing value against customer requirements.
  • Lead and contribute to Unified Engineering opportunities—in synergy with other AVEVA products—working with presales/architects, Product Management and R&D to meet technical requirements and value outcomes.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams (Delivery, Tech Support, Adoption, Deal Desk, etc.) to recommend architectures and deployment/service approaches aligned with product guidelines, and ensure a smooth handover to post-sales implementation.
  • Partner with Marketing, Industry Principals and Sales to refine messaging and value proposition and to support pipeline strategy.
  • Engage in the relevant Community of Practice, improving demo assets and contributing to knowledge enablement for AVEVA and partners.
  • Represent AVEVA at customer meetings, conferences and industry events—communicating our value proposition, supporting customer references/case studies, and traveling as required to build key relationships.

Essential requirements

  • 5+ years of experience with AVEVA Engineering portfolio (or equivalent engineering design solutions in O&G/Marine) in presales, technical services, or engineering/design roles, supporting opportunities end-to-end.
  • Proven presales experience delivering discovery sessions, technical planning, presentations and solution demonstrations, including technical proposals/RFX and hands-on Proof of Value.
  • Master’s degree (or higher) in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related technical field.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English and Spanish, able to present to both technical and executive audiences across Engineering, Operations, Information Management, Data & AI, Maintenance, and Digital/Innovation teams.
  • Strong knowledge of AVEVA Engineering technologies (e.g., Spectrum, cloud-based modules such as UEoC / UE Browser Access, and legacy solutions such as AVEVA E3D, P&ID/Diagrams, E&I, Global) and understanding of the CONNECT industrial platform.
  • Significant hands-on experience in EPC and/or Owner Operator environments, with strong understanding of EPC workflows and multi-discipline practices, customer challenges, and value drivers across the asset lifecycle.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and ability to investigate customer needs across AVEVA’s core industries (Oil & Gas, Power, Chemicals, Mining).
  • Ability to work effectively independently and as part of a team, managing multiple competing priorities in a complex environment.
  • Passionate about technology, with a natural attitude toward sharing best practices within the AVEVA ecosystem.
  • Proficient with Salesforce and disciplined in following the sales process and metrics

Desired skills

  • Familiarity with sales methodologies such as MEDDPICC and Challenger.
  • Knowledge of emerging technologies and cloud, including AI/ML/Industrial AI and/or certifications/exposure to Azure and AWS.
  • Technical fundamentals for deployments/integrations: programming/scripting, SQL Server, web/application servers, and cloud solutions.
  • Experience with Information Management and related standards/libraries (e.g., CIFHOS, ISO 15926) and Digital Twin concepts.
  • Experience in adjacent domains such as Asset Performance Management (APM).
  • Ability to coach and mentor junior colleagues.
  • Knowledge of Marine and ALM strategy and key functionalities.
  • Understanding of end-to-end value and integration between AVEVA Unified Engineering and the broader AVEVA portfolio (e.g., APS, ERM, ALM, AIM, PCM, etc.).
