Job Title: Consulting Specialist
Monthly Pay: $3,721 - $5,558 USD per month
Summary:
Unclear handoffs, inconsistent reporting, and gaps between business requirements and daily practices make up the issues this consulting role examines. The Consulting Specialist supports focused operational reviews that help clients understand problems and choose practical improvements. The position sits within a consulting team and works under a senior consultant who guides assignments and reviews recommendations. It collaborates with client contacts, project coordinators, and consultants to clarify requirements and organize findings. This fully remote position offers desk-based work from home in Tennessee, United States. The role requires a 40-hour weekly commitment. Working days and shift times may vary.
Job Responsibilities:
- Receive consulting requests through a shared email queue, clarify the business question, and confirm assignment scope and expected outputs with the senior consultant.
- Review client background, existing procedures, and available performance reports to identify missing context before beginning a focused review of the assigned issue.
- Record client requirements, contact history, and outstanding questions in a CRM such as HubSpot, keeping factual observations separate from assumptions throughout each assignment.
- Arrange fact-finding discussions with client contacts, ask prepared questions about handoffs and reporting, and summarize the business requirements described during those conversations.
- Compare current practices with stated requirements and relevant benchmarks, identifying gaps without making unsupported conclusions about their causes or business impact.
- Use root cause analysis to examine recurring operational issues, test explanations against available evidence, and flag conflicting information for further review.
- Prepare concise findings and practical improvement options, explaining supporting evidence, implementation considerations, and unresolved questions for the senior consultant to review.
- Track review tasks, dependencies, and agreed actions in a project management tool such as Trello, updating progress as client information becomes available.
- Follow up on unanswered questions and overdue actions; escalate scope changes, missing evidence, or obstacles to the senior consultant before proceeding beyond agreed boundaries.
- Share approved findings with relevant contacts and close completed tasks; quality is judged by accuracy, turnaround, complete notes, and timely follow-up.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- About 1-2 years of experience supporting consulting assignments, business reviews, or operational research preferred.
- Understanding of management consulting fundamentals, including requirements gathering, gap analysis, benchmarking, and evidence-based recommendations.
- Ability to distinguish symptoms from possible causes and explain how available information supports a finding.
- Familiarity with client activity tracking and shared project tools, including the example systems named above.
- Clear written and verbal communication for client questions, discussion summaries, and concise reports tailored to business readers.
- Ability to organize concurrent assignments, maintain accurate notes, and seek guidance when information is incomplete.
- Access to a reliable computer, high-speed internet, and quiet private workspace; availability for the 40-hour weekly commitment and agreed working days and shift times.
- Authorization to work in the United States.
Perks & Benefits:
- Fully remote, desk-based work from home within the stated location, with collaboration handled through shared systems.
- Structured onboarding and training on the named systems, assignment review steps, and client communication practices.
- Regular check-ins with the team lead to discuss progress, clarify priorities, and review feedback.
- Opportunities to build consulting research, requirements gathering, analytical reasoning, and report writing skills through guided assignments.
- Health coverage, paid leave, a 401(k), bonus opportunities, and stipends.
