Contingent Faculty - Counseling (51716) Las Vegas, NM 87701 Apply Overview Salary Range $1,050.00 Commission Position Type Faculty - Per Course Education Level Masters Degree Travel Percentage None Category Faculty Apply Description The NMHU Counseling Department is seeking applicants for per course faculty. Per course faculty typically teach 3-6 credits per semester, with class schedules determined based on departmental needs and candidate availability. Courses are taught online either asynchronous, ZOOM, or asynchronous and ZOOM. Per course positions remain posted continuously to expand the Counseling program's pool of qualified per course faculty. Screening of applications will commence when an open position becomes available within the program. Should a position become available, you will receive an email advising you of the next steps. This is a REMOTE Position. Term Faculty Responsibilities: Teach 3 (1 course) - 6 (2 courses) credits during a semester. Teaches assigned course(s) online, delivering appropriate course content to students, preparing course materials, lesson plans and setting up the gradebook in Brightspace that correspond to assignments. Teaches assigned course(s) online by delivering course content, learning activities and assessment using the university's learning management system. Grade student work and provide students with robust feedback in a timely manner. Develop and deliver course lectures and/or materials by ZOOM and Brightspace. Discussions and assignments are outlined in the course syllabus and are in accordance with the curriculum and learning objectives. Maintain accurate records of student attendance, academic achievement, and performance in accordance with university policies and procedures. Distribute to each student, in each course, via the learning management system, a department approved syllabus that includes course objectives, required course materials, attendance policy, evaluation criteria, accessibility services, and other required information. Communicate early with the student, department chair, and academic advisor for any student at risk of failure or in need of individual counseling using appropriate university services. Respond to students by email/phone within 24 hours during weekdays. Provide time as needed to meet with students outside of class, including virtual office hours. Foster a positive and inclusive learning environment conducive to student engagement and academic success. Develop and administer projects and exams to evaluate student learning outcomes and provide grades in a timely manner. Some courses have a "Key Performance Measures" assignment that needs to be graded on the Experiential Learning Cloud (ELC). Provide timely feedback and guidance to students to support their learning and development. Share any questions or concerns in a timely manner with the Counseling Department Chair. Performs other duties as assigned. Term Faculty Requirements: Master's degree in counseling from a CACREP Accredited Program. Prior teaching experience with master's level counseling students on an online learning platform. Professional experiences as a counselor. Current counselor licensure. Innovative thinker with strong conceptual and problem-solving skills. Strong organizational and planning skills. Ability to work under pressure and react effectively. Ability to work independently and as part of a team. Qualifications Minimum Qualifications Master's degree in counseling, from a CACREP Accredited Program and 2 years of professional experience in the counseling field practicing as a counselor. Current counselor licensure. Professional, self-starter, and strong work ethic. Experience with online learning platforms, including experience teaching on online learning platforms. Preferred Qualifications PhD in Counselor Education from a CACREP accredited institution. Experience working with mental health professionals, clients, and master's level students in counseling. Preferred Skills Ability to work independently and make sound informed decisions. Excellent communication and problem-solving skills. Doesn't hesitate to reach out for assistance when needed. Knowledge of CACREP accreditation standards and online learning best practices. Experience using online learning platforms and setting up classes on Brightspace.
