Job Description
The Department of Psychiatry & Behavioral Sciences within the UW School of Medicine currently has an outstanding opportunity for a Part Time Continuing Education Coordinator to join their team.
About this Opportunity
Reporting to Director of Program Operations, the Continuing Education Coordinator is responsible for working with ADAI faculty and staff to oversee administrative functions and coordinate activities to sustain and grow a portfolio of substance use education and workforce development initiatives. The primary goals outlined in ADAI’s 2024 strategic plan are about increasing educational opportunities to bolster interest in careers in substance use research, policy, and practice and increasing educational and training programs for reducing stigma in healthcare settings. The Continuing Education Coordinator will work with ADAI faculty and staff, as well as internal and external partners, on these initiatives and already established educational programs including a summer internship program. This position is hybrid-eligible.
The salary information provided below is for a full-time position and will be prorated for this part-time, 80% FTE opportunity
Key Responsibilities
- Summer internship: ADAI offers undergraduate students an 8-week summer internship with the goal of increasing interest in substance-use related fields and growing the workforce. In the winter and spring, the coordinator is responsible for using established tools and resources to coordinate activities for the next internship. (30%)
- Stigma reduction educational program: In collaboration with the ADAI leaders and subject matter experts, coordinate the logistics of planning, implementing, and assessing a new educational program, or building upon already developed programs, to address the stigma people who use drugs face when seeking healthcare in traditional settings. (40%)
- Advisory board: Working collaboratively with multiple ADAI staff, establish and coordinate a community advisory board that is composed of people with lived and living experience and community healthcare and service providers. The coordinator will help ensure educational programs are informed by community perspectives and responsive to the needs of people affected by substance use. (20%)
- Other Educational Activities including coordinating an annual, 2-hour, virtual research open house; coordinating the planning of a post-baccalaureate workforce development program in collaboration with ADAI leaders; and coordinating a biennial research symposium. (10%)
