Toronto Pearson is a dynamic hub where innovation drives excellence. We're building a future-focused airport, prioritizing passenger and airport experience; and community prosperity. Join us in revolutionizing air travel. Join us on our journey together as we put the joy back into travel and make Toronto Pearson the chosen place to fly and work.
What can you expect from this position?
Through a partner agency, reporting to the Program and Portfolio Manager, the Contractor, Senior Project Manager will lead the planning and delivery of multiple complex, enterprise-wide projects that advance Toronto Pearson’s strategic priorities and long-term transformation. You will oversee projects across the full lifecycle, from business-case development and planning through implementation and closeout, ensuring commitments related to scope, budget, schedule, quality, risk, and strategic outcomes are achieved. Working closely with senior leaders, internal business units, external partners, consultants, and contractors, you will establish effective governance, provide clear performance reporting, and support the delivery of a more advanced, sustainable, and passenger-friendly airport.
As a Contractor, Senior Project Manager, you will:
- Lead multiple complex and concurrent enterprise projects through the complete project lifecycle, from initial planning and business-case development to implementation, transition, and closeout.
- Define project scope, objectives, deliverables, budgets, schedules, resource requirements, risks, quality standards, communication plans, and strategic value propositions.
- Establish comprehensive project management plans, governance structures, reporting procedures, meeting cadences, and decision-making processes.
- Partner with business leaders and stakeholders to develop business cases and funding approval materials, providing recommendations, scope alternatives, and supporting cost and schedule estimates.
- Monitor project performance against approved scope, budget, schedule, quality, and strategic objectives, proactively addressing issues and developing appropriate risk-mitigation plans.
- Prepare clear and timely status reports, briefing notes, analytical summaries, financial updates, and executive-level communications highlighting key performance indicators, risks, issues, and required actions.
- Manage project documentation and data integrity, ensuring project charters, implementation plans, requirements, change requests, decisions, issue logs, and supporting records are accurate, complete, and current.
- Facilitate collaboration and information exchange among internal business units, senior stakeholders, external consultants, contractors, airlines, regulatory agencies, and other delivery partners.
- Work closely with Finance to monitor project budgets and forecasts, manage approved changes, support monthly accruals, review payment requests, and maintain accurate financial and change-control records.
- Oversee and hold accountable multidisciplinary project resources, consultants, contractors, vendors, and service providers while supporting knowledge transfer, continuous improvement, and successful project outcomes.
This is the role for you, if you have:
- A post-secondary degree in project management, business, or a related discipline, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Ten or more years of demonstrated experience managing complex projects involving multiple stakeholders.
- Demonstrated success independently managing multiple concurrent, high-risk or long-term projects from planning through implementation and closeout, with accountability for schedule and budget.
- Strong knowledge of project management methodologies, governance practices, and project monitoring systems, including scheduling, cost, risk, quality, and change control.
- Experience developing business cases, feasibility studies, budget estimates, policies, process documentation, project plans, and executive-level reporting materials.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, including the ability to assess business processes, evaluate options, identify best practices, and improve service delivery.
- Proven leadership, facilitation, negotiation, and organizational skills, with the ability to influence decisions and resolve complex project, client, and technical issues.
- Strong relationship-management skills and the ability to build trust and work collaboratively with senior leaders, project sponsors, internal clients, external stakeholders, consultants, and contractors.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to communicate complex information effectively across all levels of the organization.
- A project management certification, such as PMP, or comparable accreditation, which would be considered an asset.
- Ability to obtain and retain Transportation Security Clearance.
