Controls Transformation Program Consultant

We are seeking an experienced Controls Transformation professional to support a large-scale enterprise program focused on modernizing controls, risk processes, governance, and automation.

The successful candidate will conduct controls and risk assessments, identify automation opportunities, support proof-of-concept evaluations, and develop recommendations for process and policy improvements. This role requires someone who can work independently and translate complex analysis into concise, executive-ready presentations and recommendations.

Duties:

• Conduct assessments of current controls and risk management processes.
• Perform risk assessments and support technology intake activities.
• Identify and prioritize opportunities for controls and process automation.
• Partner with consulting firms, vendors, and technology teams to evaluate Proofs of Concept (POCs) and proposed automation solutions.
• Analyze enterprise-wide transformation initiatives and identify gaps, dependencies, and improvement opportunities.
• Support controls rationalization, process standardization, and process improvement.
• Develop recommendations for policy enhancements, governance modernization, and controls automation.
• Contribute to controls transformation roadmaps and future-state processes.
• Prepare executive-ready PowerPoint presentations, summaries, and recommendations.
• Represent program leadership in meetings with stakeholders.
• Collaborate across business, Risk, Compliance, Audit, Technology, and other functions.
• Independently manage deliverables and execute with urgency and quality.

Must Haves:

• Strong experience in internal controls, risk management, governance, and compliance.
• Practical understanding of the Three Lines of Defense, ideally with 1st and 2nd Line experience and strong awareness of the 3rd Line.
• Strong working knowledge of COSO and/or SOX; controls testing experience is highly desirable.
• Experience conducting risk assessments and evaluating control environments.
• Experience identifying controls automation or process automation opportunities.
• Exposure to automation technologies such as GRC platforms, RPA, workflow automation, data analytics, or Continuous Control Monitoring.
• Experience supporting POCs, vendor evaluations, or technology-enabled controls initiatives.
• Experience with process improvement, process standardization, or controls transformation.
• Strong consulting and transformation experience within complex enterprise environments.
• Exceptional PowerPoint and executive communication skills, with demonstrated ability to turn complex information into concise, decision-ready content.
• Comfortable working independently and representing leadership with stakeholders.
• Collaborative, adaptable, and receptive to direction, with a strong focus on delivering high-quality work on time.

This is a Contract position based out of Toronto, ON.

The pay range for this position is $100.00 - $115.00/hr.

Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
