Converter Control Engineer (F/M Porto)
YOUR ROLE
Key Responsibilities:
-
Develop and improve MATLAB-based tools for tuning generator-side control loops and evaluating generator performance using finite-element data.
-
Design, implement, and optimize control algorithms for PMG-based converter systems, including torque control, speed control, start-up, and motoring functions.Implement and test control software on real-time embedded platforms using C/C++.

Build and maintain simulation models of electrical machines, converters, controllers, and mechanical drivetrains using PLECS and MATLAB/Simulink.

Perform dynamic simulations, stability analysis, controller tuning, and system identification activities.

Support system integration, troubleshooting, commissioning, and parameter optimization.Collaborate closely with mechanical, electrical, and software engineering teams on generator-converter interactions.

Prepare technical documentation, validation reports, test specifications, and engineering deliverables.
YOUR PROFILE
-
Degree in Electrical Engineering, Power Electronics, Control Systems, or a related field.
-
3+ years of experience in power electronics, motor drives, renewable energy converters, or industrial drive systems.
-
Strong knowledge of electrical machines, permanent magnet generators (PMG), and generator-side converter control.Experience with vector control, torque control, current control loops, and dq0 control methodologies.

Proficiency in MATLAB/Simulink and PLECS for modelling, simulation, and controller development.

Experience developing engineering tools and model-based design solutions.

Strong programming skills in embedded C/C++ and real-time control systems.Familiarity with DSPs, microcontrollers, and embedded firmware development.

Experience using GIT and modern version-control workflows.

Understanding of machine dynamics, converter operation, and controller performance validation.Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills.

Excellent communication and collaboration skills in multidisciplinary engineering environments.
