OCEAN GETAWAYS

COPYWRITER & CONTENT PRODUCER

FULL-TIME | REMOTE | INDEPENDENT CONTRACTOR

Ocean Getaways (OG) is a boutique private-yacht advisory company creating bespoke charter experiences for ultra-high-net-worth travelers, luxury travel advisors and corporate incentive groups. For more than four decades, we have combined industry expertise, highly personalized service, exceptional yachts and destinations, and an extensive professional photography library.

We seek an experienced writer and editor who can turn OG's expertise, Management direction and source materials into polished, publication-ready newsletters, LinkedIn content, website features and social posts.

THIS IS A WRITING-FIRST ROLE, NOT A MARKETING MANAGER OR RESEARCH-HEAVY STRATEGY POSITION.

OG Management supplies substantial industry knowledge, audience insight, content direction and priorities. We need someone who excels at writing, editing, producing, publishing and improving execution.

IMPORTANT — READ BEFORE APPLYING

Do not submit only a generic LinkedIn application. To be considered, email all six requested application elements listed under TO APPLY, including writing samples, an original writing response and a short video. Applications containing only a LinkedIn profile or resume will not advance.

THE ROLE

Exceptional writing is the foundation of this position. Candidates should have meaningful professional experience writing for HNW/UHNW, luxury or comparably discerning premium audiences—ideally 1–3+ years—and samples demonstrating sophisticated editorial judgment.

Our audiences do not respond to generic luxury language, inflated claims or formulaic copy. We communicate quality, access, privacy, service and experience through specificity, restraint and accuracy.

This is not a social-media specialist role with occasional writing duties. It is a professional copywriting, editing and content-production role that also requires confident digital publishing skills.

OUR THREE AUDIENCES

· UHNW travelers and families: evocative but understated writing that conveys place, privacy and exceptional care through specific detail.

· Luxury travel advisors: knowledgeable, precise and useful information that helps advisors recommend charters confidently.

· Corporate incentive planners: clear, credible, results-focused explanations of an often-unfamiliar experience.

The same yacht or destination may need distinctly different treatments for these audiences.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

WRITING & EDITORIAL — THE HEART OF THE ROLE

· Write long-form newsletters, yacht and destination features, website pages and editorial/blog content.

· Write LinkedIn posts/articles, social captions, headlines, subject lines, preheaders and calls to action.

· Adapt voice to each audience and channel; repurpose material intelligently rather than merely repeating it.

· Research and fact-check unfamiliar topics, verifying details rather than making assumptions.

· Self-edit and proofread to publication standard for factual accuracy, American English, OG terminology, links and formatting.

PRODUCTION & PUBLISHING

OG's newsletter templates and visual systems are managed separately. You will work within established brand standards and templates.

· Assemble, test, schedule and publish newsletters, including copy placement, image selection, basic cropping, links, CTAs and mobile presentation.

· Choose photographs accurate to the yacht, destination and actual charter experience. Use OG's library or licensed imagery; no AI-generated imagery without Management approval.

· Create LinkedIn/social visuals using established templates, publish posts and make basic website/CMS updates.

· Maintain publishing schedules, track basic performance and report results.

· Turn Management direction into strong first drafts, apply revisions accurately and take work through publication with minimal supervision.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

· Professional HNW/UHNW, luxury or comparable premium-audience writing experience, ideally 1–3+ years, demonstrated by relevant samples.

· Excellent copywriting, editorial or journalism skills, including substantive long-form work—not only captions and promotional copy.

· Ability to shift voice and tone convincingly across audiences and channels.

· Excellent written and spoken English, including strong American English usage.

· Meticulous proofreading, fact-checking, attention to briefs and follow-through on instructions.

· Experience producing newsletters/email campaigns and professional LinkedIn content.

· Strong visual and editorial judgment in image selection, sequencing, cropping and contextual accuracy.

· Comfort with existing email/social templates, content scheduling and basic CMS updates.

· Reliability, independence and ability to meet recurring deadlines in a remote role.

HELPFUL, NOT REQUIRED

Experience with Canva, Lightroom/Photoshop, Stripo or other email tools, CMS platforms, Zoho, Google Analytics 4, LinkedIn and Meta publishing tools.

Relevant backgrounds include yacht charter, luxury travel/hospitality, private aviation, luxury real estate, wealth/private-client services, premium concierge and other high-value client sectors. Direct charter experience is an advantage, not a requirement.

WHAT WE ARE NOT LOOKING FOR

Sales-heavy copy, trend-driven social content, generic AI-written prose, advanced graphic-design work or lengthy marketing strategy presentations. We value writing craft, sound editorial judgment and accurate, finished work.

AI USE

Responsible AI use for research and efficiency is welcome. The writing, factual judgment and final editorial decisions must be your own. The original application writing exercise below must be completed without AI.

COMPENSATION

Competitive and based on experience, demonstrated writing ability, location and fit. Performance and compensation may be reviewed after the first 90 days based on quality, productivity, independence, responsiveness and results.

WORK ARRANGEMENT

· Full-time, remote, independent-contractor engagement intended as a long-term primary role.

· Any location/time zone is welcome, provided your regular schedule substantially overlaps OG's approximately 9:00 AM–6:00 PM U.S. Eastern Time business hours.

· Consider carefully whether required evening or overnight hours would be sustainable in your location.

TO APPLY — ALL SIX ITEMS REQUIRED

Following these instructions is part of our evaluation.

Email your complete application to:

Brad Lavigne | hiring@oceangetaways.com

Subject: Copywriter – [Full Name] – [Country]

1. COVER LETTER

Briefly explain why OG interests you, your relevant background and your experience writing for HNW/UHNW, luxury or similarly discerning audiences.

2. CV / RESUME

Include relevant education, employment/freelance history, dates and positions held.

3. THREE WRITING SAMPLES — WRITTEN BY YOU

· One long-form piece of at least 600 words, preferably travel, hospitality, lifestyle, destination, luxury/premium editorial or similarly sophisticated consumer content.

· One example of tone adaptation: the same topic for two audiences or two distinctly different voices/registers.

· One newsletter or email you personally wrote.

At least two samples should demonstrate suitability for HNW/UHNW, luxury or comparable premium audiences. For each, identify the client/brand, audience, objective, your personal contribution, material editing by others and any AI use.

Note: If an exact portfolio match is unavailable, you may substitute original writing expressly prepared for this application; label it clearly and meet the same sample requirements.

4. SHORT ORIGINAL WRITING RESPONSE

In 3–5 sentences, describe one memorable moment aboard a private crewed yacht as you would for an OG client newsletter. Submit the actual copy, not an explanation. Write it yourself without AI tools.

5. VIDEO INTRODUCTION — 90 SECONDS TO 2 MINUTES

Record from your normal workspace. Tell us who you are, why OG appeals to you and one aspect of luxury travel or yacht charter that genuinely interests you. This is not a production test; simple and natural is best. Supply a viewable Loom, unlisted YouTube, Google Drive or Dropbox link.

6. COMPENSATION, LOCATION & HOURS

Provide expected monthly compensation in USD; current location/time zone; specific U.S. Eastern Time hours you can work consistently; and earliest practical start date.

OPTIONAL: Include LinkedIn posts or social visuals you personally produced.

Strong-fit candidates may be invited to further questions, a recorded interview, reference checks and/or a paid practical writing/content assessment using OG source materials.

Thank you for your interest in Ocean Getaways.
