Core System Engineer

At least 2 years of recent professional experience with C, C++, Rust, or similar systems programming languages

Strong systems-level programming skills

Solid understanding of computer science fundamentals, including data structures, algorithms, concurrency, and software design

High-level proficiency with Linux

Good understanding of networking and web technologies, particularly HTTP

Basic understanding of web browsers and JavaScript

Experience with Git and continuous integration workflows

Ability to debug and analyze complex software and production issues

Strong problem-solving and analytical skills

An operational mindset and willingness to own systems in production

Experience building high-performance or distributed systems, particularly in Rust. Experience with Nginx or Nginx module development. These are considered a plus.

Deep Linux/UNIX, kernel, or networking knowledge. Experience with TCP/IP, UDP, DNS, TLS, QUIC, HTTP/2, or HTTP/3. These are considered a plus.

Design, develop, and maintain high-performance Core System software

Work across different components and products of the CDN and edge platform

Debug, troubleshoot, and optimize complex production systems

Investigate performance, reliability, scalability, and resource-usage issues

Participate in system design, code reviews, and technical decision-making

Own software throughout its lifecycle, from development to production operation

Research and evaluate technologies, protocols, and approaches relevant to the platform

Write and maintain technical and operational documentation

Collaborate with other engineers to develop reliable, scalable, and maintainable systems
