Role Description This is a full-time, on-site COREN Certified Engineer role based in Abeokuta. The engineer will oversee the planning, design, and execution of school construction and renovation projects, ensuring that structures meet safety, quality, and regulatory standards. Day-to-day tasks include conducting site assessments, preparing engineering drawings and specifications, supervising contractors and construction teams, and monitoring project timelines and budgets. The role also involves collaborating with architects, local authorities, and community stakeholders, preparing technical reports, and ensuring compliance with COREN, local building codes, and environmental guidelines. The engineer will contribute to continuous improvement of construction processes and support the organization’s mission of providing safe learning environments.
Qualifications
  • Possession of current COREN certification and a degree in Civil Engineering, Structural Engineering, or a closely related field.
  • Strong skills in structural design, construction supervision, and site inspection for building projects.
  • Proficiency with engineering design and drafting tools (e.g., AutoCAD, Revit, structural analysis software) and familiarity with relevant building codes and standards.
  • Experience in project planning, scheduling, and budget management for construction or infrastructure projects.
  • Ability to collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, engage with community stakeholders, and communicate technical information clearly.
  • Demonstrated commitment to safety, quality assurance, and environmentally responsible construction practices.
  • Prior experience working in educational infrastructure projects or nonprofit/development settings is an advantage.
  • Willingness to work on-site in Abeokuta, conduct field visits in surrounding communities, and adapt to diverse local conditions.
