About this role

At BlackRock, our mission is to help more people experience financial well-being. We combine investment expertise, technology and global scale to help clients achieve their financial goals. This role contributes to that mission by supporting the operational integrity, control and scalability of the investment lifecycle.

Team Overview

Corporate Actions Operations is part of Portfolio Services within Business Operations Services. The team manages the end-to-end processing and oversight of voluntary and mandatory corporate action events across global markets.

The team partners closely with Portfolio Managers, Traders, Custodians, Brokers, Asset Servicers and internal operational teams to ensure events are accurately captured, communicated, elected and processed across BlackRock's investment platforms and books of record. The team supports events including mergers, acquisitions, tender offers, rights issues, stock splits, dividends, interest payments, restructurings and redemptions.

Role Overview

As an Associate within Corporate Actions Operations, you will oversee complex corporate action processes and help ensure accurate execution across global markets. You will provide oversight of key controls, manage escalations and resolve complex operational issues.

You will work closely with Portfolio Management, Trading, Product, Risk, Technology, custodians and external service providers. You will also identify opportunities to improve processes, strengthen controls and increase automation and scalability across the corporate actions operating environment.

Key Responsibilities

You will:

  • Manage complex voluntary and mandatory corporate action events and associated operational risks.
  • Oversee key controls and ensure compliance with established procedures.
  • Review high-risk elections, entitlement calculations and event-processing activities.
  • Investigate complex event exceptions and drive timely resolution and appropriate escalation.
  • Perform root-cause analysis and implement corrective actions for recurring operational issues.
  • Partner with Technology and business stakeholders to deliver process improvements and automation initiatives.
  • Support management reporting, risk monitoring and operational metrics analysis.
  • Strengthen control frameworks across the corporate actions lifecycle.
  • Mentor Analysts and provide guidance on event processing, risk management and operational best practices.
  • Contribute to business initiatives, platform changes and operating-model transformations affecting Corporate Actions Operations.

Required Qualifications

You have:

  • 5 years + experience, preferably in asset management, securities operations, middle office, custody, asset servicing or financial services.
  • Knowledge of financial markets, investment operations and the securities lifecycle.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to investigate operational exceptions and identify root causes.
  • Strong attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills and the ability to collaborate across functions and regions.
  • A bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, Business Administration or a related discipline, or equivalent relevant experience.
  • Technology & Digital Fluency: Strong data literacy and proficiency with tools such as Microsoft Excel, with an ability to use technology to improve productivity, decision-making and outcomes. You embrace digital ways of working and seek opportunities to improve processes through automation, analytics and AI-enabled tools.

Preferred Qualifications

It would be helpful if you also have:

  • Experience with corporate action processing, including voluntary and mandatory events, elections, entitlement calculations and reconciliations.
  • Experience within an asset manager, custodian, investment bank or securities-services organization.
  • Exposure to data visualization, reporting or workflow-automation tools.
  • Experience partnering with Technology or Product teams on process enhancements or automation.
  • Familiarity with global market practices and the operational risks associated with corporate action events.
