About the Role
Reporting to the Director of Automation Engineering, the Corporate Automation Engineer provides technical leadership and hands-on support for plant automation and process-control systems across global operations. The role oversees DCS, PLC/HMI, SCADA, automation software, machine vision, testing, validation, troubleshooting, and continuous improvement while advancing Industry 4.0 capabilities through IIoT data collection, real-time monitoring, connected equipment, and secure OT/IT integration.
What You’ll Do
- Support the specification, design, development, installation, commissioning, and validation of process control systems for complex capital projects.
- Design and implement process control strategies that improve efficiency, optimize performance, reduce variability, support compliance, and improve equipment and process reliability.
- Troubleshoot, optimize, investigate incidents, and perform root cause analysis for instrumentation, control systems, and related process issues.
- Lead Industry 4.0 initiatives, including smart manufacturing, connected equipment, IIoT data collection, real-time monitoring, and digital transformation of plant automation systems.
- Develop automation data pipelines, dashboards, historian systems, and analytics tools to improve visibility into equipment performance, process trends, quality, and operational efficiency.
- Collaborate with IT, operations, engineering, and vendors to implement secure OT/IT connectivity, edge devices, industrial networking, and scalable digital manufacturing solutions.
- Provide programming, design, installation, and lifecycle management support for manufacturing process controls, automation systems, and field instrumentation technologies.
What You’ll Bring
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering discipline, or an equivalent combination of relevant education and professional experience.
- Hands-on experience with industrial automation, instrumentation, process controls, DCS, PLC/HMI systems, SCADA, and control-system documentation is required; experience with Allen-Bradley, Emerson DeltaV, Honeywell, GE iFIX, historians, MES, dashboards, analytics tools, or process-data visualization systems is preferred.
- Desired – Automation project experience.
- Desired - Knowledge of Industry 4.0 technologies, including IIoT platforms, smart sensors, connected equipment, edge computing, MCP/AI, industrial data acquisition, real-time monitoring, OT/IT integration, industrial networking, cybersecurity principles, and secure plant-to-enterprise data connectivity.
- Ability to use data-driven methods to identify automation opportunities, improve process reliability, reduce variability, and support continuous improvement initiatives.
- Strong written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills, with the ability to collaborate across engineering, operations, IT, and vendor teams.
- Availability to support 24/7 manufacturing operations, including occasional after-hours support, as business needs require.
- Ability to work safely in a manufacturing environment, including occasional lifting of up to 20 lbs., standing for extended periods, bending, crouching, stooping, rotating, and climbing stairs.
