Salary Range: $120,000.00 To $145,000.00 Annually
This role is located in New York City and will require a hybrid work schedule of at least 2 days in office per week.

Department Overview
The Americas Division (“AD”) was established in the Sumitomo Mitsui Trust Bank, Limited, New York Branch) (“SMTBNY”) to perform corporate functions and supervise U.S. entities. Established under the AD are the “Global Banking Unit (“GBU”), Americas Division” and “Global Markets Unit (“GMU”), Americas Division” which performs business functions. Management (“MGT”) applies advanced knowledge of the Bank to implement processes and procedures and achieve strategic goals. The Regulatory Compliance Department (“RCD”) provides support to all departments of the New York Branch for regulatory compliance related advice, monitoring, self-testing, and reporting in order to reduce regulatory risk of Sumitomo Mitsui Trust Bank, Limited (“SMTB”).
Your Role Overview
The Corporate Compliance Analyst supports the AD’s Regulatory Compliance Department (“RCD”) in maintaining and enhancing the Corporate Compliance framework for the AD. The role is responsible for monitoring regulatory developments, assessing compliance risks, conducting testing and reviews, supporting regulatory examinations, and helping ensure adherence to applicable federal and state banking laws, regulations, and supervisory guidance.
The ideal candidate possesses a strong understanding of the regulatory environment governing U.S. branches and agencies of foreign banking organizations, including requirements established by the Federal Reserve Board (FRB), New York State Department of Financial Services (NYDFS), and other applicable regulatory authorities.
The Corporate Compliance Analyst is responsible for identifying and developing criteria and commentary on critical compliance issues across the Bank. Drafts new and existing policies and procedures to ensure that the AD meets the requirement of various legal and regulatory agencies. Ensures ongoing improvement and evolution of governance programs and identifies risks and/or gaps in the Program.
Your Duties and Responsibilities
- Regulatory Compliance Monitoring
- Monitor and analyze changes in federal and state banking laws, regulations, supervisory guidance, and enforcement actions.
- Assess the impact of regulatory changes on AD and coordinate implementation efforts with business and control functions.
- Enhance and update AD’s regulatory inventory and compliance obligations framework.
- Corporate Compliance Risk Management
- Assist in the identification, assessment, monitoring, and reporting of compliance risks across business lines and operational functions.
- Lead the annual Corporate Compliance risk assessment process and make ongoing enhancements to the risk assessment process.
- Maintain and enhance the Corporate Compliance Testing Program.
- Conduct Corporate Compliance Testing, make appropriate recommendations in relation to identified issues, and track compliance issues / corrective action plans / and remediation activities to completion.
- Maintain and enhance the Employee Personal Trading Monitoring Program (“EPTMP”).
- Maintain and enhance the policies and procedures and control framework related to Gifts and Entertainment.
- Prepare reporting for relevant governing bodies.
- Policy and Procedure Governance
- Review and update Corporate Compliance policies, procedures, and controls to ensure alignment with regulatory requirements.
- Maintain related policy governance documentation and attestations.
- Regulatory Examination and Audit Support
- Coordinate Corporate Compliance-related responses to regulatory examinations, inquiries, and information requests from NYDFS, FRB, internal audit, and external auditors.
- Assist in the preparation of regulatory examination materials and management responses.
- Track examination findings and remediation activities through completion.
- General Affairs
- Update various compliance related logs and keeps track of compliance related documents.
- Assist in minute-taking of any compliance related committees.
- Prepare and deliver Bank-wide and targeted training on compliance topics.
- Prepare reports and presentations relating to the Corporate Compliance Program.
- Perform and assist with other duties and responsibilities as assigned by management.
Your Qualifications
- Knowledge of regulations and supervisory expectations applicable to U.S. branches of foreign banking organizations, including but not limited to:
- Foreign Corrupt Practices Act and other ABC-related laws,
- Insider-trading related laws and regulations,
- Fraud-related laws,
- Legal Lending Limits,
- Anti-tying laws,
- Anti-boycott laws,,
- Abandoned Property,
- NYDFS regulations / guidance.
- Knowledge of SEC laws, rules and regulations preferred.
- Ability to assess laws / regulations / guidance and translate them into practical business requirements.
- Ability to prepare professional reports and presentations for management and regulators.
- Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent and at least 4 years of related experience in Corporate Compliance at a financial institution (preferably a U.S. branch of a Foreign Bank and/or a subsidiary of a Foreign Bank).
- Excellent analytical, investigative, and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent organizational and communication skills (writing and interpersonal).
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, including Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
- Excellent interpersonal skills, good oral and written communication skills.
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines.
- High level of integrity, professionalism, and attention to detail.

The anticipated salary range for this role is listed above. The specific salary offered to an employment applicant is based on the individual’s qualifications, experiences, the job responsibilities, an analysis of the current compensation paid for similar roles in the local geographic area, and key distinctions of the job as compared to current jobs in the Branch. The role may also be eligible for an annual discretionary bonus.
