You will work closely with EHS and business leaders and build a "Design for Safety and Ergonomics" approach into our operational and engineering systems.
This is a leadership role with real influence. You will reduce injury risk, improve employee wellbeing and shape workplace design across a wide range of GE Vernova environments. You will also build ergonomics capability across the business, including a team to deliver the improvements.
What you will do
• Develop and implement a corporate-wide ergonomics strategy, including scalable processes, systems, tools and continuous improvement initiatives.
• Partner with engineering, manufacturing, EHS and technology teams to establish and embed ergonomic design standards.
• Lead ergonomic improvement projects that use automation, innovation, new technologies and lean manufacturing principles.
• Chair the cross-business Ergonomics Council to promote best practice and support front-line solutions and learning.
• Help teams use data and digital tools, and validated standards, to identify and assess ergonomic risk, including cumulative force, repetition and cycle times in complex manufacturing environments.
• Use data analytics to prioritise risks, build business cases and direct investment in ergonomics solutions.
• Provide technical expertise to cross-functional teams on ergonomic programmes, standards and best practice.
• Work with the Occupational Health team and Chief Medical Officer to develop tools and training and to deliver musculoskeletal prevention programmes.
• Design and deliver training that develops non-specialists into confident champions of injury prevention and wellbeing.
• Benchmark external best practice and bring leading approaches into our standards and technology solutions.
• Build a culture of prevention in which employees feel able to report early symptoms and contribute to hazard identification and solutions.
• Create an ergonomic recognition programme that celebrates best practice and injury prevention.
• Lead other EHS projects, including Safety Culture, Human and Organisational Performance (HOP), Industrial Hygiene and Life Saving Rules.
What you will bring (essential)
• A degree in human kinetics, kinesiology, human factors, occupational health and safety, industrial engineering or a related discipline, or equivalent experience.
• Substantial, demonstrable experience leading ergonomics programmes at senior level in a complex industrial, manufacturing or engineering environment, ideally with a multinational footprint.
• Experience designing and implementing ergonomic programmes across a complex global matrix.
• A recognised professional qualification in ergonomics or human factors, such as Chartered Ergonomist or Human Factors Specialist (CIEHF), Certified Professional Ergonomist (CPE), Certified Ergonomics Assessment Specialist (CEAS) or an equivalent.
• Deep knowledge of anthropometry, biomechanics and human-machine interface design.
• A track record of delivering high-impact ergonomic solutions that improve safety and efficiency.
• Confident use of digital and AI ergonomic tools and modelling software.
• Strong data analysis skills, and the ability to use them to make decisions.
• Excellent written and spoken English, including technical writing.
• Skill in facilitation, presentation and influencing, with the ability to engage audiences from front-line colleagues to senior leaders worldwide.
• Working knowledge of EHS disciplines and standards.
