What You’ll Be Doing
We are looking to hire 3 experienced and expectional Council Tax Recovery Officers.
As a Council Tax Recovery Officer, you’ll play a key role in maximising income for Slough Borough Council while helping residents find sustainable ways to manage their Council Tax arrears. You’ll manage your own caseload, primarily from the summons stage onwards, taking timely and appropriate recovery action in line with legislation and council policies.
You’ll investigate enquiries, resolve disputes and negotiate payment arrangements that reflect individual circumstances, balancing effective debt recovery with a fair and sensitive approach to vulnerable customers. Working closely with colleagues, legal services and external enforcement agents, you’ll prepare cases for legal action and represent the council in court when required.
Alongside this, you’ll maintain accurate account records, deal with related billing issues where needed, and help residents access relevant discounts, exemptions and digital services. You’ll also contribute to improvements in processes and systems, helping prevent debt from escalating and delivering a responsive, customer-focused service.

Annual increments, where applicable, are usually payable on 1 April, subject to six months’ service and satisfactory performance, until the maximum spinal column point is reached.
