** Background – The School of Science & Technology provides a wide range of both undergraduate and postgraduate programmes across a broad spectrum of subjects covering Mathematics, Computer Science and Engineering. The School is home to around 5,000 students studying full time, part time and in modular modes.
The School’s Academic Services team provide administrative support and advice to academic and administrative staff and students within the School. The team is involved in quality management processes including the programme approval and amendment processes, managing student appeals and complaints, providing regulatory advice, managing timetabling and examinations processes, and provision of data and management information
** Responsibilities – The appointed Course Officer will be part of a team responsible for the day-to-day operations and administration of our programmes. This will include responding to student queries, drafting student communications and documentation, maintaining accurate student records, administering assessments, supporting timetabling and attendance monitoring activity and arranging student events.
** Person Specification – The successful candidate will be educated to A-Level standard or equivalent and have relevant experience of working in a busy customer-focused environment within a Higher Education or similar setting. They should be confident using IT systems, including MS office packages, spreadsheets and databases. Experience of Moodle and student records systems (particularly SITS) is highly desirable. The successful candidate will have well-developed verbal and written communication skills, excellent planning and organisational skills, the ability to analyse problems and identify solutions and the ability to work with a high degree of accuracy. They will also be committed to delivering high quality services to students and staff.
