Criminal Inadmissibility Practice Lead Lawyer

About the Role

Lead a growing criminal inadmissibility practice within an AI-native Canadian immigration law firm. This role combines legal oversight, team leadership, and operational improvement, with an opportunity to help scale the practice and shape its use of technology.

What You'll Do

• Lead and manage a team of approximately three case managers, setting expectations, coaching team members, and supporting strong performance.

• Monitor operational measures such as file throughput, client satisfaction, response times, and delayed files using an operations dashboard, and lead weekly reviews.

• Work with technology colleagues to prototype and develop AI-enabled tools that improve legal workflows and practice efficiency.

• Provide senior legal oversight on complex criminal inadmissibility matters, including Temporary Resident Permit and Criminal Rehabilitation applications.

• Improve the practice's capacity, client experience, and profitability as it moves from operational stabilization to growth.

What We're Looking For

• Approximately 3 to 9 years of relevant experience, with immigration law experience and exposure to criminal inadmissibility matters.

• Admission to a Canadian law society and eligibility to practise law in Canada.

• Leadership ability, including experience coaching colleagues, providing direct feedback, and taking ownership of team outcomes.

• Interest in applying AI to legal workflows, with familiarity using tools such as Claude or ChatGPT; experience prototyping tools is an asset.

• Comfort working with operational metrics, dashboards, and the commercial considerations of running a legal practice.

• Familiarity with tools such as Clio and Loom is useful.

Compensation & Benefits

Compensation is CAD $120,000 to $160,000 annually. Visa sponsorship is not available.
