We are looking for a CTO / Head of Technology Strategy to strengthen CodeIT’s technical positioning, engineering standards, and service capabilities.
The CTO will own the company’s technology strategy, propose new technical service opportunities, define the technical model behind these services, and ensure that CodeIT has the standards, competencies, tools, and practices required to deliver them with consistent quality.
This is not a purely managerial role and not a classic Head of Engineering role. The CTO should remain a strong technical practitioner: able to challenge architecture decisions, support complex technical situations, set up audits, and guide teams when technical quality or delivery stability is at risk.
At the same time, the CTO does not own revenue, sales pipeline, full service lifecycle, day-to-day delivery, or cross-department integration. The role supports Sales, Delivery, Marketing, and Operations with technical strategy, technical standards, service design, and expert guidance.
1. Technology Strategy, Service Development, Innovation & AI Adoption
Own and evolve CodeIT’s technology strategy with a focus on creating new technical service offerings and strengthening existing ones (or which to phase out to support the service portfolio)
Identify new service opportunities based on technology trends, market demand, AI capabilities and client needs.
Design the technical foundation and POC of each service: technologies, competencies, tools, frameworks, engineering approach, quality expectations, and implementation assumptions.
Drive pragmatic innovation and AI adoption, including guidelines and governance for responsible AI usage across engineering and service delivery.
2. Technical Service Implementation Strategy
Work with Delivery, Sales, Marketing, and Operations to adjust implementation strategy based on real constraints.
Create or manage reusable technical assets: discovery questionnaires, audit frameworks, architecture templates, implementation playbooks, reference architectures, checklists, and quality gates.
3. Support for Sales & External Representation
Act as a technical advisor in pre-sales activities and help shape solution approaches.
Lead or support technical discovery, solution design, architecture proposals, technical due diligence, and estimation validation.
4. Engineering Excellence, Standards & Processes
Maintain and evolve the technology governance framework: standards, policies, guidelines, architectural principles, and quality benchmarks.
Establish code quality expectations, review practices, testing standards, CI/CD expectations, and architecture review principles.
Drive adoption of effective engineering practices across teams and units.
Translate lessons learned from technical failures, delivery issues, and escalations into standards and preventive improvements.
5. Hands-on Technical Leadership & Quality Control
Conduct or organize technical audits, architecture reviews, and engineering maturity assessments on active projects.
Act as an escalation point for complex technical challenges, architectural risks, delivery instability, or critical quality issues.
6. People & Capability Development
Define and evolve technical skill frameworks, competency matrices, and engineering career paths relevant to the service portfolio.
Identify technical capability gaps and recommend upskilling, hiring, tooling, or process improvements.
Help build a distributed technical leadership model so technical expertise does not depend only on the CTO.
7. Nice to Have / Areas for Development
Represent the company at selected industry events, conferences, and through technical content.
Provide technical input for marketing materials, case studies, articles, webinars, and talks.
Ensure consistent use of tools, engineering practices, decision-making approaches, and quality benchmarks across teams.
Set up a technical delivery quality monitoring and escalation system.
Support growth of engineers toward senior, lead, architect, and practice-owner roles.
Mentor senior engineers, architects, tech leads, and technical experts.
Contribute to technical hiring standards, interview quality, and assessment approaches.
ДЛЯ вакансии вспомогательные материалы, если описание выше всем ок:
Required experience
10+ years in software engineering, architecture, solution architecture, or technology leadership.
3+ years in a senior technical leadership role: CTO, Head of Technology, Director of Engineering, Head of Solution Architecture, VP Engineering, Practice Lead, Chief Architect, or similar.
Strong engineering and architecture background with the ability to challenge technical decisions and guide complex solutions.
Experience in a service-based company: outsourcing, outstaffing, software development agency, digital engineering, technology consulting, or boutique consultancy.
Experience designing technical services, technology practices, competence centers, technical frameworks, or reusable engineering methodologies.
Experience in technical presales, discovery, solution design, technical due diligence, architecture proposals, or estimation validation.
Experience contributing to technical hiring, skill frameworks, competency matrices, or engineering career paths.
Ability to work across multiple technology stacks without being the deepest hands-on expert in each one.
Ability to collaborate with Sales, Marketing, Delivery, PMO,Sales, and Operations without replacing their ownership.
Experience with AI-assisted software delivery, engineering automation, or agentic workflows.
Nice to have
Experience creating AI usage guidelines or engineering governance for AI tools.
Experience with legacy modernization, SaaS platforms, cloud migration, integrations, data engineering, QA automation, or technical audits.
Experience building technical audit frameworks, maturity assessments, modernization roadmaps, or implementation playbooks.
Experience supporting technical content, webinars, whitepapers, case studies, or conference talks.
Experience scaling technical practice.
Experience defining engineering standards, code quality expectations, review practices, and project startup practices.
Ideal candidate profile
The ideal candidate is a former engineer or architect who has grown into a business-aware technical leader.
They are strong enough technically to define standards, challenge architecture, evaluate service feasibility, guide implementation, and support critical technical situations. They also understand that technical services must be grounded in market needs, delivery capability, business value, and practical execution.
They do not need to personally own delivery, sales, revenue, or company-wide integration. Their main value is to define what technical capabilities CodeIT should build, how technical services should work, what standards are required, and how engineering teams should execute them with consistent quality taking into consideration market demand, technical feasibility, etc.
They can speak with engineers in technical depth, with clients in clear solution language, and with leadership in terms of technical investment, feasibility, risk, and strategic focus.
Success criteria
First 3-4 months
Technical capability map completed.
Current technical strengths, gaps, and risks analyzed.
1-2 priority technical service directions proposed.
Initial engineering standards and governance gaps identified.
Project startup and quality control improvement areas defined.
Key technical leaders and potential practice owners identified.
AI adoption and engineering productivity opportunities identified.
