Curriculum and Materials Development Specialist

Salary Range: $80,000.00 To $90,000.00 Annually Reports To : Vice President, Curriculum Development Employee Status : Full Time, Exempt Office Location: We strongly prefer candidates who are able to work out of our New York City office location (505 Eighth Avenue, New York, NY 10018). We have a hybrid schedule of working 2 days in the office and 3 days remote. We are also open to candidates based elsewhere in the United States. GENERAL STATEMENT OF RESPONSIBILITIES: CAI is seeking a Curriculum and Materials Development Specialist to design innovative, evidence-based curricula, resources, and tools that strengthen health center systems and advance improved patient outcomes across the national Federally Qualified Health Center (FQHC) and Look-Alike network (Health Centers). This role supports CAI's National Training and Assistance Program (NTAP) for Clinical and Preventive Excellence, funded by the Health Resources and Services Administration, translating clinical and programmatic content into engaging, practice-ready improvement experiences and learning products. Key activities are summarized below. MAJOR TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES (include, but are not limited to): Bring an innovation mindset to materials development – researching and piloting new formats, tools, and technologies that make CAI's curricula, webinars, and e-learning more engaging, accessible, and effective for health center audiences nationally. Strategically think through course design and take the lead on developing assigned curricula, webinars, and e-learning modules (trainer and participant manuals, playbooks, PowerPoints, storyboards), conducting research and partnering with content experts to become conversant in the subject matter and communicate current evidence and innovative practices effectively. Write curricula, participant manuals, worksheets, and other materials that support learning collaboratives and technical assistance delivery to the national health center network. Ensure all curricula and materials meet CAI's standards of excellence – grounded in adult learning theory and cognitive learning principles, reflecting current instructional design and educational technology best practices, and 508-compliant – through careful, detail-oriented quality assurance review, including of programmed modules. Storyboard e-learning modules (Articulate Rise and/or Storyline), selecting interactive exercises and graphics that strengthen learning and application in real-world health center settings. Partner with the Communications Department, content experts, and other instructional design colleagues at CAI to incorporate feedback and continuously improve curricula and storyboards. Track and communicate shifting trends in curricula, webinars, and e-learning, advising CAI on the adoption of new formats and technologies that advance the quality and reach of its work with health centers. Work with the VP of Curriculum Development to ensure projects are supported strategically by the Curriculum and Distance Learning departments in ways that support CAI's growth, reputation, and impact. Uphold and demonstrate core CAI corporate values. Other duties as necessary/assigned. MINIMUM EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE AND OTHER SKILLS REQUIRED: Bachelor's or Master's degree in education, instructional design, public health, or another health-related field, and/or 4 years of experience in curriculum development, educational communication and technology, adult learning, instructional design, or a related program focused on adult learning and technology. Strong editing and research skills. Experience designing and developing innovative online training, in-person training, or webinars. Knowledge of adult and cognitive learning theories. Experience developing training products for health-related fields (trainer manuals, playbooks, toolkits, PowerPoint slides, storyboards for e-learning modules, live and animated video scripts, etc.). Experience developing live virtual training using the functions of Zoom (e.g., annotate, polling, etc.). Experience developing storyboards that are 508-compliant, to be produced in Lectora. Experience writing scripts for 508-compliant live and animated videos for educational purposes. Strong Microsoft Word and PowerPoint skills. Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Ability to work both independently and as part of an interdisciplinary team in a fast-paced environment. Detail-oriented, highly organized, and able to multi-task and manage multiple projects. Familiarity with public health issues and the FQHC/health center landscape. PREFERRED: Expertise providing quality management support in a public health arena. Project management and coordination experience. Knowledge of training and professional development methodologies. Demonstrated ability to manage complexity and prioritize multiple tasks. Ability to work productively in highly collaborative settings while also functioning independently. Demonstrated ability to interact professionally with culturally diverse staff, clients, and consultants.
