Overview We are looking for a versatile and ambitious Custom Research Analyst to join our new in-office Melbourne, Australia team . This role is ideal for someone who enjoys turning research questions into well-designed studies, managing the details of project delivery, interpreting findings, and helping create clear, compelling client outputs. You will support custom research projects across a mix of sectors, working closely with senior researchers and global colleagues to help design questionnaires, manage fieldwork, check data quality, analyse results, and contribute to reports and presentations. The role requires strong research instincts, excellent attention to detail, comfort working with survey data, and an ability to turn findings into meaningful stories for clients. The role may also involve supporting proposal development and business development activity, including helping prepare credentials, draft proposal content, contribute to research approaches, and support materials for client conversations. This position reports into the Global Research team and will work closely with research leads across our global offices. Given the international nature of the work, the role may occasionally require joining calls outside standard Australian business hours to collaborate with colleagues and clients in other markets. This is a hybrid position, with an expectation that the successful candidate will work from the office at least three days per week. Some flexibility will be available where needed, but regular in-person collaboration is an important part of the role. Responsibilities As a research analyst, you will be expected to: - Support the design and execution of quantitative and qualitative research projects - Assist with research design, questionnaire drafting, and discussion guide development - Coordinate project timelines, fieldwork milestones, deliverables, and internal communications - Review survey links, questionnaires, data tables, and toplines for accuracy and consistency - Conduct data checks to identify inconsistencies, missing data, outliers, or quality issues - Analyse survey results and help identify meaningful patterns, implications, and recommendations - Support the development of clear, visual, and client-ready reports in PowerPoint - Translate research findings into concise stories that are easy for clients to understand and act on - Help prepare charts, summaries, toplines, and other project materials - Contribute to qualitative research tasks, such as stimulus preparation, note-taking, synthesis, and reporting - Contribute to client presentations by helping prepare materials and, over time, presenting findings and recommendations to clients and internal stakeholders. - Work collaboratively with local and global colleagues across time zones - Support the testing and refinement of AI-enabled research tools, including HarrisX’s proprietary AI research assistant, AskTheo, by providing feedback from day-to-day use cases Required Skills We are looking for candidates who have: - 2–5 years of experience in market research, consumer insights, consulting, polling, brand strategy, or a related field - Strong PowerPoint and Excel skills - Skilled backgrounds in Excel and Q or other research software tools (e.g. SPSS, STATA, Python, R) Qualifications An ideal candidate for this position is: - Comfortable working with quantitative survey data, crosstabs, charts, and research reports - Able to interpret data and identify the “so what” behind the numbers - Strong writing and storytelling skills, especially in PowerPoint - Curious, hands-on, and able to take initiative in a fast-paced, remote-friendly environment - Able to manage multiple tasks, communicate clearly, and thrive in a collaborative setting - Comfortable working with global teams across time zones - Can be trusted to deliver accurate, on-time results, especially in a partially remote setting where autonomy and follow-through are essential Compensation The base salary range for this position is AU$80,000 - 90,000 annually, commensurate with experience. Required Education and Experience Bachelor’s degree in marketing, psychology, social sciences, communications, business, economics, statistics, political science, or a related field Master’s degree or advanced coursework in data science, social research, or related areas is a plus 2–5 years of experience in market research, consumer insights, consulting, polling, brand strategy, or a related field Strong PowerPoint and Excel skills
