Research Associate / Market Research Analyst

Role Description The Research Associate / Market Research Analyst will conduct market research related to African solar manufacturing, including analyzing industry trends, mapping value chains, and identifying opportunities for cost reduction and product improvement. Day-to-day responsibilities include designing research frameworks, collecting and interpreting quantitative and qualitative data, and preparing clear reports and presentations for technical and non-technical stakeholders. The role involves collaborating with fellows, mentors, and industry partners to translate market insights into actionable recommendations for PV manufacturing strategies. The Research Associate / Market Research Analyst will also contribute to data-driven decision-making for fellowship projects and help develop knowledge resources for the broader SIRF community. This is a part-time, remote role that offers flexibility while maintaining regular check-ins and deadlines aligned with the fellowship’s timeline.

Qualifications

• Candidates should possess strong Market Research and Market Analysis skills, including experience with assessment of industry trends and competitive landscapes.
• Candidates should possess robust Analytical Skills, such as data interpretation, quantitative and qualitative research methods, and problem-solving abilities.
• Candidates should possess clear Communication and Presentations skills, including the ability to convey complex findings in concise written reports and visual formats.
• Relevant experience or education in fields such as economics, engineering, data science, business, or sustainable energy is beneficial.
• Familiarity with the solar or broader renewable energy sector in Africa, and interest in manufacturing-focused R&D, is highly advantageous.
• Ability to work independently in a remote setting, manage multiple tasks within a part-time schedule, and collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams is expected.
