Job Overview
Impact Advisors is building a security product for health systems, and this is a founding role on it.
The position requires behavioral modeling at scale: establishing baselines across large populations, detecting deviation, and delivering models that perform reliably in production within customer environments. Source data is varied and often not structured for security use, so the work spans raw data through to deployed models.
The successful candidate will own the analytical layer end to end, including feature development, modeling, evaluation, deployment and ongoing operation. Candidates are expected to come from cyber security or an adjacent domain in which the same problem shape occurs, such as fraud, abuse, payments risk or insider risk.
Responsibilities
Modeling and analysis
- Profile unfamiliar data, assess what it supports, and establish baselines for users, roles, devices and systems
- Develop detection and scoring approaches using methods appropriate to the problem, including peer group comparison, clustering, classification, outlier detection and time series
- Tune models against production data, reduce false positives without loss of coverage, and maintain performance as underlying systems change
- Define evaluation criteria, measurement methods and drift detection
Data and delivery
- Build the data path supporting the models, from ingestion and normalization through to reliably computed features
- Own deployment and ongoing operation of models in production
- Develop visualizations that allow customer security leads to interpret and challenge model output
Applied AI
- Select the appropriate model for each task across statistical, classical machine learning and language model approaches, and justify the selection
- Apply small and local models where deployment constraints require them
- Use AI coding tools as part of standard development practice
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree or higher in engineering, mathematics, statistics or computer science
- 5+ years applying data science to a security, fraud, abuse or risk domain, including models deployed to production
- Advanced proficiency in Python and SQL, with experience at data volumes where tooling selection affects outcomes
- Demonstrated anomaly detection experience: population baselining, peer group comparison, and data-derived thresholds
- Ability to reason about base rates and alert volume, including deriving required precision from population size and alert capacity
- Experience building data pipelines
- Experience deploying and maintaining models in production, including versioning, monitoring and retraining
- Hands-on experience applying language models in production
- Clear written and verbal communication of technical findings to non-technical audiences
