Cybersecurity Engineer

- Location: Colombia, South America.
- Work Type: Remote (Colombia-based candidates only).
- Employment Type: Permanent.
- Probation Period: 2 months.
- Work Schedule: Monday through Friday, 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM CST.
- On-call availability outside normal working hours is required for incident response activities.
- Salary: COP 10-12 million per month, adjustable based on assessment and experience, plus benefits package.

We are seeking an experienced Cybersecurity Engineer to work hands-on across penetration testing, incident response, malware analysis, and log analysis. This role focuses on identifying, validating, and responding to advanced cyber threats across enterprise systems, infrastructure, cloud environments, and endpoints while contributing to the continuous improvement of the organization's security posture.
Key Responsibilities
- Act as a primary responder during security incidents, including malware infections, unauthorized access incidents, and data breaches.
- Analyze and correlate logs across SIEM, endpoint, network, and cloud platforms to support threat hunting and security investigations.
- Plan and execute internal and external penetration testing activities.
- Identify, document, and communicate vulnerabilities with clear remediation guidance.
- Perform static and dynamic malware analysis and assess attacker tactics, techniques, and procedures (TTPs).
- Conduct root cause analysis and support remediation efforts.
- Maintain and improve incident response playbooks and post-incident reporting processes.
- Collaborate with IT, Engineering, and Compliance teams to resolve security findings and strengthen security controls.
- Communicate findings, risks, and recommendations with technical rigor and accuracy.
- Mentor and support junior security analysts and engineers.
Essential Skills & Experience
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Systems Engineering, Information Security, or a related field.
- Minimum of 5 years of hands-on experience in penetration testing, incident response, malware analysis, and log analysis.
- Demonstrated experience working with complex enterprise systems, infrastructure, and hybrid environments.
- Strong communication, analytical, and teamwork skills.
- Advanced English proficiency (C1), with the ability to communicate effectively across diverse business environments, contribute to complex discussions, influence decisions, and produce clear business communications.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with SIEM, EDR/XDR, IDS/IPS, and vulnerability management tools.
- Strong understanding of networking concepts, operating systems, and cloud platforms.
- Knowledge of NIST, ISO 27001, and MITRE ATT&CK frameworks.
- Scripting or automation experience using Python, PowerShell, or similar tools.
- Ability to work effectively within a global enterprise environment.
- CISSP (Certified Information Systems Security Professional) certification.
- CEH (Certified Ethical Hacker) certification.
