Job Description

This is a remote position.

For our customer in the telecommunications industry, we are seeking an experienced, cybersecurity-focused Senior Project Manager to drive end-to-end delivery of critical customer initiatives across the global cybersecurity portfolio. This role covers projects across all phases-from discovery and intake through delivery, security assurance, deployment, service transition, and hypercare, as well as selected run-and-maintain improvements.

Operating in a complex, multi-stakeholder matrix structure, you will partner closely with Group Cybersecurity, IT, regional teams, business unit owners, architecture, engineering, privacy, legal, and third-party vendors to deliver secure, resilient business outcomes.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead cybersecurity initiatives across their full lifecycle - intake, shaping, initiation, planning, execution, security assurance, deployment, operational handover, closure, and benefits realization.

  • Develop and maintain integrated delivery baselines covering scope, milestone roadmaps, work breakdown structures, dependencies, capacity/resource forecasting, cost, procurement, and quality gates.

  • Establish proportionate governance frameworks, defining clear accountabilities, decision rights, stage-gate reviews, and reporting cadences aligned with enterprise and Group Cybersecurity standards.

  • Coordinate cross-functional teams across global time zones, including IT engineering, SOC/operations, enterprise architecture, procurement, legal, regional leadership, and external suppliers.

  • Maintain rigorous, evidence-based RAID, dependency, decision, and change registers with clear owners, timelines, and timely escalations.

  • Manage project budgets, purchase orders, forecasting, and supplier performance within delegated authority; validate deliverables and acceptance evidence prior to milestone sign-offs.

  • Embed security assurance activities seamlessly into the schedule, including architecture reviews, threat modeling, vulnerability testing, remediation verification, privacy assessments, audit trail gathering, and residual-risk sign-offs.

  • Oversee deployment, cutover, rollback, and hypercare plans to ensure seamless transition to operational run teams with complete service handover packs.

Key Deliverables & Outputs

  • Approved Project Initiation Documents (PID), Project Charters, and Governance Frameworks.

  • Integrated project plans, milestone schedules, and resource/capacity forecasts.

  • Robust RAID logs, decision logs, change-control records, and dependency maps.

  • Budget trackers, financial forecasts, and procurement/supplier acceptance records.

  • Stakeholder engagement plans, governance calendars, and executive steering committee packs.

  • Security assurance, testing, audit evidence, and stage-gate documentation.

  • Cutover, rollback, hypercare, and operational service readiness/transition packs.

  • Project closure reports, post-implementation reviews (PIR), and benefits realization trackers.

Requirements

  • Demonstrated track record of leading complex, multi-million or enterprise-scale technology and cybersecurity transformation initiatives.

  • Proven experience navigating complex matrix organizations, coordinating global business units, IT engineering, corporate security functions, and third-party system integrators.

  • Strong practical experience embedding security controls, compliance checkpoints, vulnerability remediation, and architecture reviews into project lifecycles.

  • Proven background in operational readiness testing, service transition (ITIL-aligned), and cutover/hypercare execution.

Demonstrated delivery experience in one or more of the following cybersecurity domains:
  • Identity & Access Management (IAM), Identity Governance (IGA), PAM, MFA, SSO, and Active Directory security.

  • Security Operations (SecOps), SIEM, SOC integration, logging, and incident response readiness.

  • Vulnerability management, exposure management, and external attack-surface reduction.

  • Cloud security (AWS/Azure/GCP), application security, API security, and secure SDLC.

  • Network security, infrastructure, endpoint protection, PKI, and digital certificate lifecycle management.

  • Data protection, information classification, cryptography, and privacy compliance (e.g., GDPR).

  • Cyber resilience, business continuity, disaster recovery, and crisis management.

  • Operational Technology (OT), IoT, and logistics-site/industrial facility security.

  • Supply chain risk, third-party cyber risk management (TPCRM), and M&A integration.

  • Familiarity with industry standards and frameworks (NIST CSF, ISO 27001, CIS Controls, ITIL).

Certifications (Preferred):
  • Recognized Project Management credentials: PMP, PRINCE2 Practitioner, or Agile/Scrum credentials (e.g., PMI-ACP, CSM).

  • Relevant cybersecurity credentials are a plus: CISSP, CISM, CRISC, CCSP, or CompTIA Security+.

Working Conditions & Soft Skills

  • Ability to support distributed teams across global time zones, including critical workshops, stage-gate reviews, and deployment windows.

  • Pragmatic, structured mindset with high attention to detail in handling sensitive, confidential security data.

  • Excellent presentation, executive communication, and consensus-building skills.
