Job Description Summary
Working alongside the advisory team, the Data & AI Consultant leads data and AI readiness conversations, frames use cases against real business outcomes, and translates the client's data reality into a direction they can act on. The role is deliberately advisory-first: it is focused on discovery, assessment, design, and recommendation, rather than on production build. It carries enough hands-on data and AI depth to prototype, prove a concept, and bridge into delivery when an engagement needs it, working with the Lead Data Engineer and the delivery team to hand work across cleanly.
The Data & AI Consultant also helps stand up AI Foundations as a practice within the firm: contributing to its offerings, its assessment approach, and the reusable frameworks that let the practice scale. As the practice matures, this role helps define what good looks like for data and AI advisory across ARKANCE's client base in the AECO industry.
Job Description
Essential Functions
Client Advisory & Engagement
- Lead data and AI readiness assessments with clients, establishing an honest picture of current-state data structure, quality, governance, and capability.
- Frame AI and data use cases against measurable business outcomes, helping clients separate what is valuable from what is merely possible.
- Facilitate client workshops and design sessions that shape a data and AI direction the organization can realistically execute.
- Translate technical data and AI concepts into language executives and operational leaders can act on, serving as a trusted advisor rather than a vendor.
- Contribute the data and AI perspective to broader advisory engagements, ensuring the target state and roadmap account for data and AI readiness.
AI Foundations Practice Development
- Help shape AI Foundations as a defined practice, including its offerings, assessment methods, and the maturity dimensions that describe data and AI capability.
- Develop reusable advisory accelerators such as readiness frameworks, use-case libraries, assessment tools, and design patterns that speed scoping and delivery.
- Shape the AI-related services embedded within the advisory offerings, ensuring they are coherent with the wider Assess & Plan approach.
- Contribute to thought leadership and market-facing material that positions ARKANCE credibly on data and AI in the AECO industry.
Technical Depth & Delivery Bridge
- Maintain enough hands-on data and AI capability to prototype concepts, validate feasibility, and demonstrate what is possible to a client.
- Bridge from advisory into delivery when an engagement requires it, partnering with the Lead Data Engineer and delivery team on a clean handoff of context and intent.
- Stay current with the data and AI landscape, including the platforms, models, and governance practices relevant to AECO clients, and bring that perspective back into the practice.
- Advise on data and AI governance, since credible AI direction depends on the data foundation and the controls beneath it.
Additional Responsibilities
- Perform all other duties as assigned.
- Duties and responsibilities are subject to change based on business needs.
Decision-Making & Autonomy
Operates with significant autonomy in client advisory activities, data and AI readiness assessment, use-case framing, and design recommendations. Partners with advisory, delivery, and practice leadership to shape the AI Foundations practice and the AI services within the advisory portfolio. Acts as the firm's front-line authority on data and AI direction for clients, escalating production build and complex delivery to the Lead Data Engineer and delivery team.
Qualifications
- Experience in a client-facing data, AI, analytics, or digital advisory role, ideally within professional services, consulting, or a technology partner environment.
- Demonstrated ability to assess an organization's data and AI readiness and translate it into practical, outcome-focused recommendations.
- Strong grounding in data fundamentals - structure, quality, governance, and reuse - and a working understanding of AI and machine learning approaches and where they apply.
- Hands-on enough to prototype and prove concepts, with the judgment to know when to hand production build to a delivery engineer.
- Excellent facilitation and communication skills, with the ability to guide executive and operational stakeholders through unfamiliar territory.
- Ability to help build a practice: developing reusable frameworks, assessment tools, and offerings rather than only delivering engagements.
- Familiarity with the AECO industry and the Autodesk ecosystem preferred, or the ability to build that context quickly.
- Bachelor's degree in a relevant field, or equivalent practical experience.
Pay range for this position: $110,000 - $130,000
