About the role
The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring the accuracy of members’ information in the pension administration database by providing data management and correction services. The role includes managing expected data, reconciling and correcting received data, consulting with employers on data requirements, providing support services on special projects, and performing user acceptance testing. The candidate will deliver a remarkable service experience across key external interactions with various employers.
What you’ll do
Processing & Data Management
- Handles the entire cycle of interface processing to ensure that member data received from employers is properly processed.
- Supports internal controls by reconciling reports from the pension database to ensure that the integrity of the database is maintained.
- Manages expected data, reconcile and purify received data through data control procedures.
- Performs data investigation, problem-solving, and admin system user support.
- Creates testing criteria and performs user acceptance testing.
- Special project support: Annual Pension Statement run, Actuarial Extract, LTIP with full membership historical analysis and data correction.
- Administration support for the control of special projects, maintaining spreadsheets, and providing file control.
- Assists ongoing review of data control procedures to improve overall data quality. Related tasks may include:
- Identifying and documenting trends in data problems and passing on information and suggestions regarding improved data handling to senior staff and manager.
Employer Services & Communication
- Develops and maintains close contacts with employer representatives regarding data interface processing, data reconciliation, and general OPTrust communication efforts with employers.
- Instructs employers on expected interface transactions required for data correction.
- Written communication skills to prepare requests for information from employers, data problem descriptions, and data correction instructions.
- Verbal skills to communicate with Employers, clients, and OPTrust staff on data and system issues in a way that is clearly understood.
Change Management & Process Enhancement
- Participates in special projects aimed at improving the link between OPTrust and its employers or improving services to members and pensioners.
- Participates in cross-functional project teams responsible for implementing new business systems and processes or procedures.
- Participates in user acceptance testing of new systems applications.
- Supports initiatives in achieving department benchmarks and goals.
- Recommends and implements efficiency changes where process gaps are identified.
- Participates in project teams that review and/or develop procedures.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
- Ensures clear understanding and adherence of all OPTrust’s policies, procedures, guidelines, as well as living our values and fostering an inclusive culture.
What you bring
- Post-secondary education or equivalent.
- PPAC/CEBS certification is an asset.
- Knowledge of OPSEU Pension Plan text provisions and pension administration to process simple case transactions and understand pension data relationships.
- Proficient in MS Office (Word and/or Excel), and business software applications. SQL and working knowledge with MS Power BI an asset.
- Interpersonal skills and a strong customer service orientation to deal with clients, Employers, and OPTrust staff with sensitivity and tact.
- Positive attitude towards work and work colleagues to support team goals and organization values of strong teamwork, cooperation, and mutual respect.
- Analytical/Problem-solving skills to identify and resolve membership data problems.
- Mathematical skills and attention to detail to perform data corrections.
- Organizational skills to handle a large volume of work and prioritize multiple tasks in an efficient manner.

The range of expected compensation for this position is $73,792.00 to $85,720.00 per year.
