Overview Please note that this position is contingent upon the successful award of a contract currently under bid. Goldbelt Professional Services specializes in providing expert resources for Public Health missions including scientific, technical, and administrative support from junior staff to high-level subject matter experts. Research and data driven, Goldbelt Professional Services’ experts create solutions customized to the client’s needs. Summary: Goldbelt Professional Services is seeking a Data Analyst I to provide NHSN Dialysis Event Prevention and surveillance training support within the Surveillance Branch (SB). Responsibilities Essential Job Functions: Provide direct user support guidance for the NHSN Dialysis Event module from a user perspective. Conduct user outreach and education and provide consultation/technical assistance to dialysis provider groups, quality improvement organizations, and health departments. Analyze the NHSN system's daily function and develop system modifications to improve data quality; track modifications. Update surveillance forms, instructions, and protocols with improvement recommendations. Develop data validation projects to evaluate and improve quality. Work with Division SMEs to enhance usability of NHSN surveillance data for prevention efforts. Manage reports, data file exchanges, and agreements between CDC and partner organizations. Review user inquiries related to NHSN and CMS quality incentive programs and prepare response documents. Handle inquiries, perform enrollment, and support correct application of CDC HAI definitions and data entry. Expected volume is 212 per month (range 122–415). Identify user/system issues requiring modification; contribute to development and prioritization of modifications. Develop NHSN modules and electronic reporting mechanisms; communicate with users to improve interface and group functions. Prepare and present educational trainings (20–30 annually) about NHSN. Write and review training/educational documents and outreach messages. Contribute subject matter support for meeting planning related to NHSN, the Coalition, and dialysis safety. Create draft CDC communication materials promoting HAI prevention strategies. Write/review content for the CDC Dialysis Safety webpage. Perform data management, cleaning, and quality assessment analyses. Perform NHSN data analyses for CMS quality incentive programs and create user reports. Advocate with partners to increase participation in ESRD Network, NCC, and other CMS HAI prevention activities. Develop and promote CDC infection prevention and surveillance resources. Review and develop website materials and communications related to infection prevention, surveillance, and response. Participate during CDC response activities and training exercises under direction of the DHQP Team Lead; duties include staffing the EOC desk to help support CDC's mission. Qualifications Necessary Skills and Knowledge: Knowledge of the principles, concepts, methods, and techniques of public health research and evaluation to analyze, evaluate, and provide expert advice and consultation. Knowledge of the principles, methods, applications, and state-of-the-art technology in the position's scientific area of responsibility to provide direction and guidance on critical and complex issues. Ability to communicate orally and in writing to make clear, convincing presentations. Knowledge of the rules, procedures, and principles that govern intramural and extramural program development, monitoring, and evaluation. Highly proficient in using Microsoft Office Tools (Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint, Teams, and SharePoint). Excellent judgment and decision-making; capable of working independently with ability to multitask successfully. Demonstrate excellent written and verbal communication in interpersonal exchanges. Highly organized with great attention to detail. Minimum Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree in Statistics, Data Science, Public Health, or related field. 1 – 2 years of experience providing public health data analysis and manipulating, cleaning, and reporting data using a variety of statistical functions. Highly proficient in using various statistical software (SAS, R, Python, etc.) Knowledge of data management systems and application of data management software. Previous experience working with the government procedures and guidelines. Ability to obtain and maintain CDC Public Trust Clearance. Preferred Qualifications: Master’s degree in Statistics, Data Science, Public Health, or related field. 3 – 5 years of experience providing public health data analysis and manipulating, cleaning, and reporting data using a variety of statistical functions. Prior experience working with the CDC is highly desired to understand the culture and environment. Pay and Benefits The salary range for this position is $80,000.00 to $90,000.00 annually.
