About the Team

The Enabling Advanced Analytics team is part of Business Operations and Enablement within P&C Re Operations. The team is responsible for developing and maintaining the P&C Re Operations analytics landscape, supporting functions such as Underwriting Operations, Technical Accounting & Claims Operations, Claims Management, In-force Management, and Client Audit.

We generate actionable business insights by applying advanced analytics, automation, and AI-driven solutions, and act as a bridge between business and IT.

About the Role

Looking for an experienced Data and Analytics Expert to solve high-priority and complex business problems using data-driven approaches, advanced analytics, machine learning, and AI. This role is based in Bratislava and will work closely with the Advanced Analytics Lead, team members, IT/D&T, and senior business stakeholders.

You will independently lead complex analytics initiatives end-to-end, shape analytical approaches and solution design, and help scale solutions from exploratory PoCs to robust, production-ready capabilities with measurable business impact. As an expert in the team, you will also provide technical guidance, challenge approaches constructively, and contribute to raising the overall analytics capability of the team.

Key Responsibilities

  • Translate complex and sometimes ambiguous business needs into well-defined analytical problem statements, hypotheses, and scalable data-driven solutions.

  • Lead the design and development of advanced analytics, machine learning, NLP, and Generative AI solutions, selecting appropriate methods based on the business problem and available data.

  • Own end-to-end delivery of analytics solutions, from data exploration and PoC development through validation, production deployment, monitoring, and continuous improvement, working closely with business and IT/D&T teams.

  • Identify data gaps, data quality issues, and opportunities to improve data collection and analytical readiness; work with relevant stakeholders to drive improvements.

  • Lead a team of two data scientists/analysts

  • Provide technical leadership and hands-on guidance to data scientists and analysts through solution reviews, methodological challenge, knowledge sharing, and mentoring.

About You

Technical Skills

  • Master’s degree in a quantitative field (STEM, Economics, Statistics, Engineering, or similar).

  • Minimum 6 years of hands-on experience in data science, advanced analytics, or machine learning, with demonstrated experience delivering complex solutions into business use.

  • Deep foundation in statistics, probability, experimental design, and analytical problem solving.

  • Strong practical expertise in classical machine learning techniques, such as parametric algorithms (linear/logistic regression), ensemble methods (decision trees, random forests, XGBoost/LightGBM), clustering (k-means, hierarchical clustering), and dimensionality reduction (PCA), with experience in feature engineering, hyperparameter tuning, and model evaluation.

  • Hands-on experience with NLP and applied Generative AI use cases (e.g., LLMs, prompt engineering, RAG).

  • Proficiency in Python and Spark (PySpark); experience with common ML/AI libraries.

  • Preferred: SQL, Power BI; insurance/reinsurance domain exposure.

Soft Skills

  • Good communicator with the ability to explain complex analytical concepts clearly and influence both technical and non-technical senior stakeholders.

  • Strong problem-solver with a consulting mindset, able to structure ambiguous problems, challenge assumptions, and drive decisions with limited supervision.

  • Demonstrated commitment to talent development, with the ability to mentor, coach, and develop team members, helping them strengthen their capabilities and grow professionally.

  • Comfortable operating in a matrix organization, influencing without formal authority, mentoring colleagues, and collaborating across business and technology teams.

For Slovakia the base salary range for this position is between 3 300 EUR and 5 400 EUR per month (for a full-time role). The specific salary offered considers:

  • the requirements, scope, complexity and responsibilities of the role,
