We are looking for an experienced Data Architect to define and evolve the organisation’s data architecture, lead a technical development team, and drive initiatives focused on AI and process automation.

You will combine strategic leadership with hands-on technical involvement, helping shape the data landscape while identifying opportunities to reduce repetitive and administrative work through AI, RPA, and automation technologies.

🧡 About the Project

You will join a technology environment undergoing continuous digital and data transformation.

As a Data Architect, you will be responsible for defining the data architecture and integration strategy across different systems, strengthening data governance practices, and ensuring that data platforms effectively support business needs.

You will also lead a technical development team and drive automation initiatives from opportunity identification and solution selection through implementation and production.

Key Responsibilities

• Define and lead the organisation’s data strategy and architecture.
• Design and evolve data models, integration patterns, and data flows across existing systems.
• Establish and promote data governance, quality, and architecture standards.
• Define integration approaches between data platforms, ERP systems, BI solutions, and other business applications.
• Lead the development team, managing priorities and the technical backlog.
• Provide mentoring, guidance, and performance management to technical team members.
• Maintain hands-on involvement in architecture decisions and critical technical components.
• Identify administrative and repetitive processes that can be improved through AI, RPA, low-code, or other automation technologies.
• Assess and select appropriate technologies and solutions for automation initiatives.
• Manage automation initiatives from process assessment and solution design through implementation and production.
• Define KPIs and evaluate the business impact and return of automation initiatives.
• Work closely with business stakeholders to understand requirements and translate them into scalable technical solutions.
• Promote responsible AI practices, considering data protection, human oversight, security, and technology/vendor dependencies.

Skills & Experience

• 8+ years of professional experience in Data, including at least 3 years in Data Architecture.
• At least 3 years of formal leadership experience managing technical teams, including people management responsibilities.
• Strong expertise in SQL and data modelling, particularly dimensional modelling.
• Strong knowledge of ETL/ELT architectures and data integration patterns.
• Experience with at least one major cloud platform, preferably Microsoft Azure.
• Experience with data orchestration technologies such as Apache Airflow or equivalent.
• Experience integrating data platforms with ERP systems.
• Experience with Business Intelligence platforms such as Microsoft Power BI.
• Proven experience delivering process automation initiatives using Artificial Intelligence, RPA, low-code, or similar technologies.
• Ability to assess business processes, identify automation opportunities, select appropriate solutions, and take initiatives through to production.
• Understanding of AI governance and risk, including personal data protection, human oversight, security, and third-party/vendor dependency.
• Strong understanding of data governance and data quality principles.
• Ability to balance strategic architecture responsibilities with hands-on technical decision-making.
• Strong communication skills and ability to collaborate effectively with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
• Availability to travel outside Europe up to twice a year, for periods of up to 15 days.
• Fluent in Portuguese.
• Professional proficiency in English.
