Responsibilities

• Gathering requirements, installing, configuring, and troubleshooting equipment in our data centers
• Coordinating with local and remote teams to troubleshoot technical issues and manage connectivity
• Managing servers, particularly after bringing a server up following installation
  • Supporting the lifecycle process of our physical server, network, and other IT infrastructure components
  • Performing physical installation and maintenance of server and network components in our data centers
• Monitoring and reporting on technical project progress while tracking project deliverables
• Keeping data centers and shared spaces clean and well organized
• Coordinating with the global data center team, leveraging global data center documentation and best practices, suggesting areas of process improvement, and updating and maintaining documentation
• Managing equipment orders, returns, shipments, and general inventory of the firm’s entire APAC infrastructure
• Automating day-to-day operational tasks
• Troubleshooting hardware faults and coordinating the RMA process with suppliers
• Handling incoming/outgoing shipments and deliveries
• Managing physical and administrative aspects of hardware inventory and component stock levels
• Creating and maintaining technical documentation of our physical infrastructure and related processes

Qualifications

• Strong communication skills and fluency in English and Mandarin
• An understanding of data center management and layout (power, cooling, cabling)
• A basic understanding of networking and systems concepts (circuits, IP routing, consoles, networking)
• A basic knowledge of Linux
• Basic hands-on knowledge of SSH, NFS, DNS, DHCP, and LDAP
• Experience making and running patch cables (cat5e)
• Experience working with fiber optic cables, including the inspecting, cleaning, and testing of these cables
• Basic shell scripting or cloud exposure will be an advantage for this role
• Basic knowledge of Cisco systems (preferred)
• Technical inventory management experience (preferred)

Candidates should also be:

• Self-motivated with a strong passion for technology
• Able to work flexible hours when required (including late nights and weekends in order to access data centers and coordinate with Systems team)
• Highly analytical with strong attention to detail
• Able to travel regionally and internationally, especially to countries across Asia
• Able to lift 60 pounds
