Show job description
AMSA Consulting Oy is hiring two full-time contract consultants for a modular AI data centre project. The project uses shipping-container data centres with two separate power paths (A-side and B-side), direct-to-chip liquid cooling and a high-speed AI network. It is built for NVIDIA GB300 NVL72 racks and made to take next-generation racks later.
The design already exists from earlier work. Your job is to check it, follow the build and bring it into service. You work for the project owners and act as their technical eyes on the design, the build and the commissioning.

1. Liquid Cooling and Mechanical:

What you will do:

• Review the direct-to-chip liquid cooling design: coolant distribution units (CDUs), pipework, pumps, valves, manifolds and heat rejection (dry coolers or chillers)
• Check cooling capacity against the heat load, for current racks and for future higher-power racks
• Check the container layout: rack positions, aisles, floor loading, lifting points, pipe routes and maintenance access
• Check residual air cooling, leak detection and fire protection
• Review supplier prices, lead times and the bill of materials for cooling and mechanical equipment
• Work with the build contractor and independent engineers: raise problems, ask for fixes and confirm they are closed
• Visit the factory to inspect the build and witness pressure tests, flushing, filling and leak tests
• Lead the cooling part of commissioning: coolant quality, flow and temperature tests, load tests and failure tests
• Write clear reports, test records and a handover pack for the buyer

What we need from you:

• Many years of experience in data centre mechanical or cooling design, build or commissioning
• Direct experience with liquid cooling for high-density racks (direct-to-chip is a must; immersion is a plus)
• Good knowledge of CDUs, heat exchangers, pumps, coolant chemistry, flushing and leak testing
• Able to read and check mechanical drawings, P&IDs and calculations
• Experience with factory acceptance tests and site commissioning
• Strong plus: containerised or modular data centre experience, and knowledge of NVIDIA GB200 or GB300 NVL72 cooling needs

• Nice to have: mechanical engineering degree, chartered or professional engineer status, Uptime Institute or similar training

2. Electrical Power, Controls and Network:

What you will do:

• Review the full power design: utility connection, main switchgear, busways, power distribution units (PDUs) and the two separate A-side and B-side power paths
• Check that each power path can carry the agreed protected load alone, and confirm that failover works. Adding the two path ratings together does not prove full redundancy
• Review the UPS modules: ratings, battery run time, warranty, safety approvals and test reports before anything is bought
• Check that the power and electrical design suits current racks and future higher-power racks
• Review earthing, protection settings, cable sizing, fire detection and suppression, and the building management and monitoring system (BMS)
• Review the network and structured cabling infrastructure: fibre patching, cable management, pathways, the network bay, and the layout and cabling for the AI network, storage, management and customer links
• Check that the facility as a whole (power, cooling, network, structure) is compatible with the AI and HPC compute platform being deployed, now and for the upgrade
• Assess resilience, redundancy, maintainability and operational efficiency across the whole facility
• Work with the build contractor and independent engineers: raise problems, ask for fixes and confirm they are closed
• Visit the factory to inspect the build and witness electrical tests
• Lead the electrical part of commissioning: insulation and protection tests, UPS load and battery tests, A/B failover tests and full load tests together with the cooling
• Write clear reports, test records and a handover pack for the buyer
What we need from you
• Many years of experience in data centre electrical design, build or commissioning
• Strong knowledge of high-power distribution, UPS systems, switchgear, A/B redundancy and failover testing
• Able to read and check single-line diagrams, load calculations and protection studies
• Knowledge of BMS, monitoring, leak detection and fire safety systems
• Knowledge of structured cabling and data centre network infrastructure (cabling and pathway review, not AI fabric design)
• Experience with factory acceptance tests and site commissioning
• Knowledge of international electrical standards (IEC) and, for the UK, the relevant UK rules
• Strong plus: high-density AI or HPC rack experience, and containerised or modular data centre experience

• Nice to have: electrical engineering degree, chartered or professional engineer status, Uptime Institute or similar training

FOR BOTH ROLES:

• Clear written and spoken English, and able to work with teams in different countries
• Able to travel to Sharjah (UAE) and the UK when needed
CONTRACT TERMS (BOTH ROLES)
• Full-time contract, 4 to 5 months at first, with a chance to extend
• Start date: as soon as possible
• Mostly remote, with travel to the factory (Sharjah, UAE or the UK) and to the install site
•
HOW TO APPLY
Send your CV and a short note about your most relevant data centre project. IMPORTANT: please say which role you are applying for: Role 1 (Liquid Cooling and Mechanical) or Role 2 (Electrical Power, Controls and Network). You may apply for both if you fit both. Please also include your earliest start date and your day rate.
